Purpose: To evaluate the color change caused by post-irradiation conversion (ΔE and ΔE ) and artificial aging (ΔE ) of resin cements light activated through ceramics of different opacities immediately and 6 minutes after manipulating the material.

Materials And Methods: Resin cement disks (Allcem and LuxaCore) were light activated through ceramics (without ceramic, e.max HT, LT, and MO) immediately and 6 minutes after the manipulation (n = 10). Spectrophotometry was used to evaluate ΔE and ΔE after 37˚C-dry-dark-storage for 24 hours and 8 days, and ΔE after 60˚C-water-storage for 24 hours. Data were analyzed with three-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD (α = 0.05).

Results: Regarding the post-irradiation color change, significant differences were found between the cements (p < 0.0001), light activation protocols (p = 0.037), and ceramics (p < 0.001). The immediate activation (16.2 ± 0.1) showed lower ΔE values than the delayed activation (16.5 ± 0.1). Ceramics influenced the ΔE values as follows: MO (14.0 ± 1.2) < LT (14.9 ± 1.2) ≈ HT (15.4 ± 1.2) < control (21.2 ± 1.2). Regarding ΔE , significant differences were found between cements (p < 0.001), light activation (p = 0.006), and ceramics (p < 0.001). The delayed activation (8.4 ± 0.1) showed lower values than the immediate activation (8.9 ± 0.1). Ceramic spacers influenced ΔE as follows: control (5.6 ± 0.2) < MO (6.6 ± 0.2) < HT (11.0 ± 0.2) ≈ LT (11.5 ± 0.2).

Conclusion: The delayed light activation resulted in increased color stability, while the ceramic interposition resulted in lower color stability.

Nowadays, the development of plant extracts as corrosion inhibitors to protect metals from corrosion is a popular research direction. However, given the vast diversity of plant species in nature, it is imperative to explore effective methods to improve screening efficiency in order to quickly identify the corrosion inhibition potential of plants. In this work, a new strategy for developing plant-extracted eco-friendly corrosion inhibitors based on the family and genus of plants is proposed.

In recent years, the invasive Atlantic blue crab () has increased its spread throughout the Mediterranean Sea, threatening native biodiversity and local economies. This study aimed to valorize sampled in Sicily by utilizing its exoskeleton as a source of chitosan, astaxanthin, and bio-phenolic compounds. These biomolecules were evaluated for their reducing, radical scavenging, and antitumor activity.

Background: Meniscal surgery is one of the most frequent orthopaedic procedures performed worldwide. There is a wide range of possible treatment errors that can occur following meniscal surgery. In Norway, patients subject to treatment errors by hospitals and private institutions can file a compensation claim free of charge to the Norwegian System of Patient Injury Compensation (NPE).

Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Health Møre and Romsdal HF, Kristiansund Hospital, Kristiansund; Department of Neuromedicine and Movement Science, NTNU, Trondheim, Norway.

Background And Purpose:  The optimal approach to the hip joint in patients with displaced femoral neck fractures (dFNF) receiving a total hip arthroplasty (THA) remains controversial. We compared the direct lateral approach (DLA) with the direct anterior approach (DAA) primarily on Timed Up and Go (TUG), and secondarily on the Forgotten Joint Score (FJS), the Oxford Hip Score (OHS), EQ5D-5L, and the EQ5D-VAS.

Methods:  Between 2018 and 2023, we conducted a randomized controlled trial including elderly patients with dFNFs treated with THA.

A series of N-Het·BH and AAE·BH complexes were prepared in moderate to high yields and the single-crystal structures of products 3, 31, 34, and 59 were determined. The N-Het·BH and AAE·BH complexes possess high stability, endowing these products with potential applications in luminescent and boron-containing drugs. The optical properties of the representative products have been preliminarily studied.
