Purpose: Our study aim was to understand the (human and organizational) factors influencing fall risk among people with hematological malignancies using the Reason model as a framework, providing insights that can inform the development of safe and effective fall management strategies.
Methods: Purposive sampling was employed to conduct semi-structured interviews with 13 people with hematological malignancies and 12 nurses from the hematology department of a tertiary grade A hospital in Guangzhou from December 2023 to February 2024. The topic analysis method was utilized to analyze the interview data.

Background: Informal caregivers may face challenges, especially during the pre-transplant phase. We have learned about the challenges faced by informal caregivers during hematopoietic stem cell transplantation; there is a lack of consensus about the challenges faced by them before transplantation. We identified the psychosocial well-being of informal caregivers to patients before hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

The "obesity paradox" suggests that, despite a higher baseline risk for adverse health outcomes, obese patients can experience a lower complication and mortality rate in conditions such as pulmonary embolisms (PE). This study aims to examine the association between obesity and inpatient outcomes of PE patients, utilizing the data from the National Inpatient Sample (NIS) database. We conducted a retrospective study analysis of obese adult PE patients (aged ≥ 18) using the NIS database from 2016 to 2020.

Although tamoxifen is commonly utilized as adjuvant therapy for Estrogen Receptor alpha (ERα)-positive breast cancer patients, approximately 30-50% of individuals treated with tamoxifen experience relapse. Therefore, it is essential to investigate additional factors besides ERα that influence the estrogen response. In this study, cross-analysis of databases were performed, and the results revealed a significant association between LINC00626 and ERα signaling as well as increased expression levels of this gene in tamoxifen-resistant cells.

People with lived experience of mental health difficulties have highlighted that research outcomes do not capture issues they feel are important. This mismatch might affect the validity of trials, such that beneficial effects could be missed or results could be counted as a benefit when they are not. Co-development of patient-reported outcome measures ensures patient perspectives are captured adequately.
