Cloud radiative effect dominates variabilities of surface energy budget in the dark Arctic.

Sci Rep

January 2025

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Livermore, CA, USA.

Climate models simulate a wide range of temperatures in the Arctic. Here we investigate one of the main drivers of changes in surface temperature: the net surface heat flux in the models. We show that in the winter months of the dark Arctic, there is a more than two-fold difference in the net surface heat fluxes among the models, and this difference is dominated by the downward infrared radiation from clouds.

Life Science Laboratories, KDDI research atelier, KDDI Research, Inc, Fujimino, Saitama, Japan.

Government policies in the United States and the European Union promote standardization and value creation in the use of FAIR (findability, accessibility, interoperability, and reusability) data, which can enhance trust in digital health systems and is crucial for their success. Trust is built through elements such as FAIR data access, interoperability, and improved communication, which are essential for fostering innovation in digital health technologies. This Viewpoint aims to report on exploratory research demonstrating the feasibility of testing a patient-centric data flow model facilitating semantic interoperability on precision medical information.

Background: Image-guided surgical navigation systems are widely regarded as the benchmark for computer-assisted surgical robotic platforms, yet a persistent challenge remains in addressing intraoperative image drift and mismatch. It can significantly impact the accuracy and precision of surgical procedures. Therefore, further research and development are necessary to mitigate this issue and enhance the overall performance of these advanced surgical platforms.

Lymph node metastasis (LNM) is often regarded as an indicator of poor prognosis in various cancers. Despite over three centuries of exploration since its discovery, the molecular mechanisms underlying LNM remain inconclusive. This review summarizes the molecular mechanisms of LNM, using the "PUMP+" principle for clarification.

Article Synopsis
  • * The technique uses a hierarchical approach, employing a plane-sweep algorithm combined with semi-global optimization to accurately create 3D models from large scenes typically seen in low-altitude drone images.
  • * In tests, FaSS-MVS produces 3D data with high accuracy comparable to advanced offline methods like COLMAP, but does so much faster, processing images at 1-2 frames per second with significantly less computational time.
