Klebsiella pneumoniae strain KP01 carrying blaGES-5 was identified from a patient in Guangzhou, China. High-throughput sequencing assigned blaGES-5 to a 28.5-kb nonconjugative plasmid, pGES-GZ. A 13-kb plasmid backbone sequence on pGES-GZ was found to share high sequence identities with plasmids from Gram-negative nonfermenters. A novel class 1 integron carrying a gene cassette array of orf28-orf28-blaGES-5 was identified on pGES-GZ, within which orf28 encoded a hypothetical protein possibly correlated to fosfomycin resistance.

Purpose: To examine the clinical utility of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in individuals with early pulmonary infection following liver transplantation.
Patients And Methods: mNGS and traditional detection results were retrospectively collected from 99 patients with pulmonary infection within one week following liver transplantation. These patients were admitted to the Department of Critical Liver Diseases at Beijing Friendship Hospital from February 2022 to February 2024, along with their general clinical data.

Background: Retroperitoneal abscesses caused by donor-derived Carbapenem-Resistant Klebsiella Pneumoniae (CRKP) infections are rare and often challenging to diagnose early due to a lack of specific symptoms.
Case Presentation: In case one, a 64-year-old male presented with unexplained fever and emaciation three months after undergoing a kidney transplant for end-stage renal disease. Metagenomic Next-Generation Sequencing identified CRKP in peripheral blood samples, and CT scans confirmed a retroperitoneal abscess.

We studied nosocomial transmission of multidrug-resistant bla-containing Klebsiella pneumoniae ST147 in a Dutch pediatric oncology center. Whole-genome multilocus sequence typing revealed two genetic clusters consisting of 2 and 5 K. pneumoniae isolates, both from Ukrainian medical evacuees and Dutch patients.
