Flushing back stones of the lumbar or iliac ureter towards the renal cavities by means of a catheter is now part of everyday practice. The ureteric flush-back technique is often easily performed when the appropriate equipment is used wisely. We used a 23 Ch cystoscope with a 5 degrees lens to work in the axis of the ureter and a 7 Ch catheter with a single orifice is advanced as far as the stone. In 30% of cases, the stone immediately ascends as far as the renal cavities due to ureteric distension. In the case of failure, rapid injections of physiological saline with a syringe are successful in 40% of cases. In 10% of cases, success depends on progressive hydraulic distension of the ureter above the stone following injection of physiological saline.

Objective: To investigate the protective effect and mechanism of tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) inhibitor C25-140 on acute kidney injury (AKI) induced by acute diquat (DQ) poisoning in mice.

Methods: A total of 80 SPF grade healthy male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into the normal control group, DQ model group, C25-140 intervention group, and C25-140 control group, with 20 mice in each group. The DQ poisoning mouse model was established by using one-time intraperitoneal injection of 1 mL of 40 mg/kg DQ solution.

Pneumoperitoneum, or free air in the peritoneal cavity, typically indicates visceral organ perforation requiring urgent surgical intervention. In peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients, however, it can occur without prior surgery or trauma, often due to technical errors, and may mimic peritonitis, risking misdiagnosis and unnecessary treatment. We report a case of a 73-year-old male PD patient presenting with fever, abdominal pain, and bowel ileus, initially raising concerns for organ perforation due to pneumoperitoneum.

Introduction: In adult patients, most ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) occurs secondarily. Concurrent UPJO with nephrolithiasis is not rare and simultaneous treatment by performing laparoscopic pyeloplasty and endoscopic stone removal has been suggested. An eight-year-old spayed female Abyssinian cat presented with lameness. Palpation revealed swelling, heat, and a reduced range of motion in the stifle and tarsal joints in both hind limbs. A radiographic examination of both hind limbs revealed periosteal proliferation from the distal tibia to the tarsal and metatarsal bones, which suggested hypertrophic osteopathy.

To assess the accuracy of Kidney Stone Calculator(KSC), a software designed for surgical planning, in predicting the duration of lithotripsy during flexible ureteroscopy(FURS) when using the novel pulsed-Thulium: YAG(p-Tm: YAG) laser. From February to August 2023, a single-center prospective study was conducted, including patients with kidney or ureteral stones through non-contrast computed tomography(NCCT), who underwent FURS with p-Tm: YAG laser lithotripsy. KSC used three-dimensional segmentation of the stones from NCCT images, along with an interactive user interface for laser settings, to estimate the stone volume(SV) and the lithotripsy duration(LD).
