There is evidence that 1-h plasma glucose (PG) concentration during the 75-g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) is superior to 2-h PG level in predicting diabetes. We investigated the characteristics of insulin sensitivity and β-cell function behind this observation. After age, sex, and BMI matching, 496 study participants selected from 3,965 individuals without diabetes who were at high risk of type 2 diabetes in a tertiary medical center were categorized into four groups in a 1:1:1:1 ratio based on OGTT results: 1) 1-h PG level <8.

Objective: To evaluate the predictability of gestational diabetes mellitus wth a 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) in early pregnancy, based on the 2013 criteria of the World Health Organization, and to test newly proposed cut-off values.
Design: International, prospective, multicentre cohort study.
Setting: Six university or cantonal departments in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland, from 1 May 2016 to 31 January 2019.

Introduction: This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between 2-h post-load minus fasting plasma glucose (2hPG-FPG) and 1-year clinical outcomes, such as death, stroke recurrence, and modified Rankin Scale (mRS) ≥2-3 among acute ischemic stroke (AIS) patients without diabetes mellitus (DM) history.
Methods: 1,214 AIS patients without DM history, obtained from ACROSS-China, were divided into 4 quartiles, based on 2hPG-FPG measurements obtained 14 days post-admission. Four models were constructed using multivariate Cox and logistic regression analyses, based on the inclusion of age, gender, trial of ORG 10172 in acute stroke treatment, NIH Stroke Scale scores (model 1), plus 10 other clinical parameters (model 2), plus newly diagnosed DM (NDDM) post-admission (model 3), plus 2hPG and FPG (model 4).

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the possible correlation between oxidative stress and subclinical myocardial damage, assessed with speckle tracking echocardiography (STE), in normal glucose tolerance (NGT) patients with one-hour plasma glucose values ≥ 155 mg/dL (NGT ≥ 155), comparing them to NGT < 155 subjects, impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) newly diagnosed patients. We enrolled 100 Caucasian patients. All subjects underwent OGTT.

Background: We investigated association of a score incorporating relative grip strength (RGS) and timed up and go (TUG) test with incident type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in older Chinese.
Methods: Both RGS and TUG scores were classified into tertiles (0~2 points) and summed to yield RGS-TUG score, ranging from 0 to 4 points, with higher points indicating better physical function. Cox proportional hazards regression was used to analyze association of RGS-TUG score with incident T2DM.
