We investigate the formation of a new type of composite topological excitation-the Skyrmion-vortex pair (SVP)-in hybrid systems consisting of coupled ferromagnetic and superconducting layers. Spin-orbit interaction in the superconductor mediates a magnetoelectric coupling between the vortex and the Skyrmion, with a sign (attractive or repulsive) that depends on the topological indices of the constituents. We determine the conditions under which a bound SVP is formed and characterize the range and depth of the effective binding potential through analytical estimates and numerical simulations. Furthermore, we develop a semiclassical description of the coupled Skyrmion-vortex dynamics and discuss how SVPs can be controlled by applied spin currents.

This work investigated the mechanical and catalytic degradation properties of FeMnCoCr-based high-entropy alloys (HEAs) with diverse compositions and porous structures fabricated via selective laser melting (SLM) additive manufacturing for wastewater treatment applications. The effects of Mn content (0, 30 at%, and 50 at%) and topological structures (gyroid, diamond, and sea urchin-inspired shell) on the compression properties and catalytic efficiency of the FeMnCoCr HEAs were discussed. The results indicated that an increase in the Mn content led to a phase structure transition that optimized mechanical properties and catalytic activities.

Compounds having hexagonal tungsten oxides (HTO) topology are of intense research interests owing to their potential functional properties, such as nonlinear optical (NLO) performances. However, most of the reported HTO-type compounds exhibit narrow optical bandgaps because of the d-d electronic transition of compositional d transition metals and lone pair electrons effect of Se/Te, which hinder their applications in the high-energy field, such as deep-ultraviolet (deep-UV) region. In this work, a new fluorophosphate, (NH)[ScF(PO)](POF) exhibiting HTO-topological structures is reported.

This study investigates the effect of incorporating heavy dopant atoms on the topological transitions in the energy spectrum of graphene, as well as on its thermodynamic properties. A tight-binding model is employed that incorporates a lattice composition parameter associated with the dopant's effect to obtain the electronic spectrum of graphene. Thus, the substitutional atoms in the lattice impact the electronic structure of graphene by altering the connectivity of the Dirac cones and the symmetry of the energy surface in their spectrum.

Compared with widely established monovalent-ion batteries, aqueous multivalent-ion batteries promise higher capacity release by achieving multiple electron-transfer events per ion intercalation in the host material. Despite plausibility, this high-capacity dream is untenable with the total tolerable redox charge-transfer limit of the host material for all carrier species equally, which is historically assumed to depend on the material rather than the guest carrier itself, and the kinetic hysteresis induced by larger charge/radius ratios induced kinetic hysteresis further enlarges the divide. Herein, we report that copper carrier redox in vanadium sulfide (VS) exceeds the intrinsic intercalation capacity boundary, with the highest capacity release as 675 mAh g at 0.

Introduction: The primary objective of our investigation was to assess the repercussions of prolonged exposure to heavy metals and smoking on the microbiome of the oral buccal mucosa. Concurrently, we aimed to elucidate the intricate interplay between external environmental exposures and the composition of the oral microbial ecosystem, thereby discerning its potential implications for human health.
Methods: Our study cohort was stratified into four distinct groups: MS (characterized by concurrent exposure to heavy metals and smoking), M (exposed solely to heavy metals), S (exposed solely to smoking), and C (comprising individuals serving as a control group).
