Zinc and cadmium complexes of meso-arylisoporphyrins carrying a pyrrolyl or dipyrrinyl substituent at the sp(3) carbon atom were obtained through a simple one-pot variation of the Alder-Longo porphyrin synthesis. Key to the formation and stabilization of isoporphyrins is the presence of metal acetates during the oxidative macrocyclization step. The characteristic Q-bands of isoporphyrins are found in the NIR region between 750 nm and 880 nm. All of the isolated pyrrolyl- and dipyrrinyl-appended isoporphyrins are stable under typical laboratory conditions and allow chemical transformations like BF2 coordination, transmetalation, and ligand exchange.

Si anode materials are promising candidates for next-generation Li-ion batteries (LIBs) because of their high capacities. However, expansion and low conductivity result in rapid performance degradation. Herein, we present a facile one-pot method for pyrolyzing polystyrene sulfonate (PSS) polymers at low temperatures (≤400 °C) to form a thin carbonaceous layer on the silicon surface.

A Rh(III)-catalyzed C-H activation/cyclization cascade was developed for the first divergent synthesis of pyrazolo[1,5-]quinazolines through a [5 + 1] annulation reaction exclusively. The one-pot procedure is recognized for its broad substrate scope, functional group tolerance, and high atom economy. Mechanistic studies reveal the reaction pathway, addressing current limitations.

3D porous organic frameworks, which possess the advantages of high surface area and abundant exposed active sites, are considered ideal platforms to accommodate single atoms (SAs) and metal nanoclusters (NCs) in high-performance catalysts; however, very little research has been conducted in this field. In the present work, a 3D porous organic framework containing Ni SAs and Ni NCs is prepared through the metal-assisted one-pot polycondensation of tetraaldehyde and hexaaminotriptycene. The single metal sites and metal clusters confined in the 3D space created a favorable micro-environment that facilitated the activation of chemically inert CO molecules, thus promoting the overall photoconversion efficiency and selectivity of CO reduction.

One-pot Ag-assisted chemical etching (SACE) of silicon provides an effective, simple way to obtain Si nanowires (NWs) of potential interest for technological applications ranging from photovoltaics to thermoelectricity. The detailed mechanism ruling the process has not been yet fully elucidated, however. In this paper we report the results of an extended analysis of the interplay among doping level and type of silicon, nanowire nanomorphology and the parameters controlling the chemistry of the etching process.

In this study, we present a concurrent chemo/biocatalytic one pot reaction cascade by combining a metal (Pd/Cu) assisted Liebeskind-Srogl (L-S) coupling with an enantioselective enzymatic reduction for the production of chiral amines and alcohols. The latter transformation was realized by applying enantiocomplementary alcohol dehydrogenases from Lactobacillus kefir (R-selective) and Rhodococcus ruber (S-selective). Compatibility issues were solved by investigating first the L-S-coupling protocol in water at room temperature.
