The gene is an important candidate in pharmacogenetic studies of antipsychotic-induced weight gain (AIWG). However, inconsistent results have been obtained. The present study investigated the association between -759C>T, functional polymorphism of the receptor, and AIWG. A prospective cohort of 48 female inpatients with schizophrenia and related illness treated according to normal clinical practice with second generation antipsychotics (SGAs) risperidone, clozapine, quetiapine, and olanzapine were evaluated. Patients were weighted at admission and again at 6 weeks of hospitalization. Weight gain was defined as an increase≥7% of baseline weight. The association between polymorphisms and weight gain was evaluated. Multiple logistic regression was run to determine potential confounders. Patients with the T allele at position -759 (TT or CT) gained less weight as compared to patients who did not have the allele. This association was not affected by possible confounding factors such as age, baseline BMI, and prior psychopharmacological treatment. The T allele at position -759 protects against AIWG in female patients with schizophrenia.

Deep learning systems are prone to catastrophic forgetting when learning from a sequence of tasks, as old data from previous tasks is unavailable when learning a new task. To address this, some methods propose replaying data from previous tasks during new task learning, typically using extra memory to store replay data. However, it is not expected in practice due to memory constraints and data privacy issues.

Objective: We aimed to examine the cognitive profile in adolescents with anorexia nervosa (AN) and its association with traits of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and ADHD. In addition, resemblance in the cognitive profile between youths with AN and their parents was explored.
Methods: Adolescent females with acute AN (n = 20) and a healthy comparison group (n = 28) completed neuropsychological tasks of set-shifting (Trail making test, Wisconsin Card Sorting Test) and central coherence (Rey Complex Figures Task, Group Embedded Figures Test, object assembly subtest).

The inclusion of forage sources in calf diets is often discussed, and the main point debated is whether the inclusion level, particle size, source, and how forage is offered may impact gut fill and reduce body weight gain, as well as impact gastrointestinal tract development. This study aimed to determine the effects of feeding forage sources with different qualities on rumen fermentation, gut fill, and development of the gastrointestinal tract of dairy calves. Forty-eight Holstein dairy calves were blocked according to sex and body weight (BW) at 28 days of life and randomly assigned to 1 of 4 dietary treatments.

Dairy product requirement and the demand-supply gap of milk in Ethiopia have been increasing at an alarming rate due to various factors such as shortage of animal's feeds, feed staffs, feed costs, and poor genetic merits of the local breeds of the country. This problem can be lessened by selecting best breed and modern animal breeding facilities, which require technologies like big data analysis and machine learning. In this study, a prediction model that can predict age at first calving of weaned calves based on their pre-weaning and weaning parameters, including dam's parity number, season of calving, birth weight, pre-weaning health status, pre-weaning average daily weight gain (ADG), weaning age and weaning weight is developed.
