Spectral polarization characteristics of short-length fiber Bragg gratings UV-written in a highly-birefringent spun-fiber have been investigated. Based on the analysis of the characteristics the technique for measuring the built-in linear phase birefringence as well as the spin period in this fiber type has been suggested. In this method the birefringence dispersion is excluded and therefore the built-in linear phase birefringence can be measured with an improved accuracy.

In this Letter, we report an ultraflat high-power supercontinuum (SC) based on a low-loss short-length fluorotellurite fiber. A novel high-peak power dual-Raman soliton femtosecond laser is used as a pump source, which effectively extends the mid-infrared SC spectral range and enhances the flatness of the SC. Finally, we obtained a 10.

Asbestos minerals have been widely exploited due to their physical-chemical properties, and chrysotile asbestos has accounted for about 95% of all asbestos commercially employed worldwide. The exposure to chrysotile, classified like other five amphibole asbestos species as carcinogenic to humans, represents a serious occupational and environmental hazard. Nevertheless, this mineral is still largely employed in about 65% of the countries worldwide, which still allow its "safe use".

In this work, we propose the group delay stretching, combined with the extended spatially and spectrally (S) resolved imaging technique, to decouple and analyze the mode coupling within the body of the FMFC with short-length pigtails. Through stretching the mode delay by a delay fiber, the degraded modes related to different origins are effectively separated, and the extended S technique quantifies the individual modal weight for each component.

All-solid-state lithium batteries, including sulfide electrolytes and nickel-rich layered oxide cathode materials, promise safer electrochemical energy storage with high gravimetric and volumetric densities. However, the poor electrical conductivity of the active material results in the requirement for additional conducive additives, which tend to react negatively with the sulfide electrolyte. The fundamental scientific principle uncovered through this work is simple and suggests that the electrical network benefits associated with the introduction of short-length carbons will eventually be overpowered by the increase in bulk resistance associated with their instability in the sulfide electrolyte.
