The ability to display a broad variety of colors has great benefits not only in the context of entertainment but also as a means to streamline design in prototyping and manufacturing processes. Displays that use RGB filters or backlights cannot span all colors that occur in nature. To improve the accuracy of color reproduction, there have been attempts to include additional color primaries in displays. Existing solutions, however, have an impact on cost, scalability, and spatial resolution and are predominantly applicable to projection systems. We propose an approach based on combining diffraction grating extractors and the HANS imaging pipeline initially developed for printing. This combination offers unprecedented potential to attain large color gamuts with the same backlights commercially used today.

Stepwise Modulation of Bridged Single-Benzene-Based Fluorophores for Materials Science.

Chemistry

December 2024

Universitat Duisburg-Essen, Institute of organic chemistry, Universitätsstraße 7, 45117, Essen, GERMANY.

In recent years, researchers studying fluorogenic samples have steadily shifted from using large, expensive, poorly soluble fluorophores with complex synthetic sequences to smaller, simpler p scaffolds with low molecular weight. This research article presents an in-depth study of the photophysical properties of five bridged single-benzene-based fluorophores (SBBFs) investigated for their solution and solid-state emission (SSSE) properties. The compounds O4, N1O3, N2O2, N3O1, and N4 are derived from a central terephthalonitrile core and vary in the amount of oxygen and nitrogen bridging atoms.

Introduction: Psychedelic compounds such as LSD, psilocybin, mescaline, and DMT can dramatically alter visual perception. However, the extent to which visual effects of psychedelics consistently vary for different substances is an open question. The visual effects of a given psychedelic compound can range widely both across and within individuals, so datasets with large numbers of participants and descriptions of qualitative effects are required to adequately address this question with the necessary sensitivity.

High-Brightness Color-Tunable AC-Driven Quantum Dot Light-Emitting Diodes for Integrated Passive High-Electric-Field Contactless Detection.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

December 2024

Institute of Optoelectronics Technology, Key Laboratory of Luminescence and Optical Information, Beijing Jiaotong University, Beijing 100044, China.

This work explores the carrier recombination dynamics of AC-driven quantum dot (QD) light-emitting diodes (AC-QLEDs) and proposes their application in the field of electric field contactless detection. Different sequences of green QD (GQD)/red QD (RQD) bilayer thin films as the emission layer of AC-QLEDs were fabricated via film transfer printing to ensure the complete morphology of each layer. AC-QLEDs with the emission layer as the sequence of GQD + RQD (GR-QLEDs) show a significantly enhanced carrier recombination efficiency due to its stable energy level structure, achieving the highest peak brightness ever recorded for vertically emitting brightness of 1648.

Background: Reproductive efficiency is paramount in the dairy industry, where early pregnancy detection of dairy cows will allow to detect the non-pregnant animals early, thus enabling to re-synchronize them and getting them pregnant leading to decrease in calving interval, which, in turn, is critical for maximizing productivity and economic gain. The objective of this study was to evaluate the colour Doppler ultrasonography (CDUS) and peripheral blood leukocytes (PBLs)-based pregnancy-associated biomarker mRNAs expression for the earliest detection of pregnancy status in the dairy cows at post insemination. Intensively managed animals were ovulation synchronized and subjected to timed artificial insemination (TAI).
