Article Synopsis
  • A study was conducted to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of endoscopic submucosal dissection using a clutch cutter (ESD-CC) for removing subepithelial lesions in the esophagogastric area.
  • The research involved 15 patients with 18 lesions, showing a high en bloc resection rate of 94.4% and an R0 resection rate of 88.9%, with no major complications reported during the procedure.
  • The final diagnoses included various types of tumors, indicating that ESD-CC could be a promising and safe treatment option for these specific lesions.

Article Synopsis
  • Primary atopic disorders (PAD) are rare genetic conditions caused by specific gene variants that affect skin and immune function, making diagnosis challenging among common allergic disease cases.
  • Identifying PAD requires recognizing clinical red flags like family history and unusual infections, as conventional lab tests are inadequate for definitive diagnosis.
  • Whole-genome sequencing (WGS) enhances diagnostic efficiency and accuracy, but requires careful interpretation and collaboration among specialists to effectively manage PAD cases.

  • Gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) are common tumors in the gastrointestinal tract, mostly found in the stomach (60%-70%) and small intestine (20%-30%), primarily affecting individuals over 50 years old.
  • They often present vague symptoms, making diagnosis difficult, which requires advanced imaging techniques like CT and MRI for accurate assessment.
  • Treatment typically involves surgery and targeted therapy, and the case of a 77-year-old woman highlights rare complications like intussusception related to GISTs, enhancing understanding of these tumors' varied presentations.

  • - Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) is linked to various cancers, including nasopharyngeal and gastric carcinomas, as well as different types of lymphomas that can range from mild to severe illnesses.
  • - The review highlights skin-related disorders associated with EBV, such as EBV-positive mucocutaneous ulcer, lymphomatoid granulomatosis, and several lymphomas including diffuse large B cell lymphoma and plasmablastic lymphoma.
  • - Due to the rarity of these skin conditions, a multidisciplinary approach and referrals to specialized care centers are recommended for proper management and treatment.
