This paper aims to provide a method for using magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT) to visualize local conductivity changes associated with evoked neuronal activities in the brain. MREIT is an MRI-based technique for conductivity mapping by probing the magnetic flux density induced by an externally injected current through surface electrodes. Since local conductivity changes resulting from evoked neural activities are very small (less than a few %), a major challenge is to acquire exogenous magnetic flux density data exceeding a certain noise level. Noting that the signal-to-noise ratio is proportional to the square root of the number of averages, it is important to reduce the data acquisition time to get more averages within a given total data collection time. The proposed method uses a sub-sampled k-space data set in the phase-encoding direction to significantly reduce the data acquisition time. Since the sub-sampled data violates the Nyquist criteria, we only get a nonlinearly wrapped version of the exogenous magnetic flux density data, which is insufficient for conductivity imaging. Taking advantage of the sparseness of the conductivity change, the proposed method detects local conductivity changes by estimating the time-change of the Laplacian of the nonlinearly wrapped data.

Vision transformer (ViT)and convolutional neural networks (CNNs) each possess distinct strengths in medical imaging: ViT excels in capturing long-range dependencies through self-attention, while CNNs are adept at extracting local features via spatial convolution filters. While ViT may struggle with capturing detailed local spatial information, critical for tasks like anomaly detection in medical imaging, shallow CNNs often fail to effectively abstract global context. This study aims to explore and evaluate hybrid architectures that integrate ViT and CNN to leverage their complementary strengths for enhanced performance in medical vision tasks, such as segmentation, classification, reconstruction, and prediction.

Purpose: To investigate the technique for dorsal median sulcus (DMS) mapping and assess its application value in preserving dorsal columnn (DC) function during intramedullary space occupying surgery based on a single-center experience.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 41 cases of intramedullary spinal cord tumor admitted to the Department of Neurosurgery at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University from March 2017 to August 2023. All included cases underwent intraoperative electrophysiological monitoring, and were divided into a study group (n = 18) and a control group (n = 23), based on whether DMS mapping technique was utilized.

Evidence relating to peer support and community-based psychological and social (psychosocial) interventions to reduce stigma and depression among people with tuberculosis (TB) and their households is limited. This study aimed to engage with multisectoral stakeholders in Indonesia to co-develop a peer-led, community-based psychosocial intervention that is replicable, acceptable, and sustainable. We used a participatory action design and engaged key national, multisectoral stakeholders to ensure that the intervention co-design was relevant and appropriate to the TB health system and the sociocultural context of Indonesia.

Background: As the UK COVID-19 vaccination programme progressed, greater emphasis was placed on the implementation of localized targeted vaccination activities to address inequalities in vaccination coverage. This study examines one UK region's approach to the delivery of targeted vaccination activities and identifies key factors influencing implementation.
Methods: Qualitative interviews were conducted with a purposive sample of key individuals involved in vaccination delivery across Greater Manchester (GM).

A young man in his 30s presented to us with multiple episodes of syncope and exertional dyspnoea for the last 2 weeks. He was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of the lower one-third of the oesophagus in 2021 for which he was treated with neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy, followed by McKeown oesophagectomy. At 2-year follow-up, he had developed a soft tissue swelling in the scalp, which was diagnosed as a tumour recurrence and radiotherapy was initiated.
