The article gives an account of material concerning treatment of 60 patients with pigmented lesions of the skin (capillary hemangiomas, pigmented nevus, tattoos) by exposure to argon laser radiation. The optimal regimens and doses of laser radiation for discoloration of pigmented skin lesions are stated. Methodological recommendations for applying three methods fo laser treatment of extensive capillary hemangiomas are suggested. The method used by the authors for treating pigmented skin lesions produced good and satisfactory cosmetic results in 95% of cases.

Introduction: Ultraviolet-induced fluorescence dermoscopy (UVF dermoscopy) is a novel diagnostic technique for identifying and diagnosing numerous skin tumors, inflammatory dermatoses, and infectious diseases. The ultraviolet (UV) band has a wavelength ranging from 10 to 400 nm. When intense UV radiation with shorter wavelengths strikes a target chromophore, visible light (VL) with a longer wavelength and lower energy is produced in the skin.

Dermoscopic Features of Diaper Dermatoses in Children: A Descriptive Pilot Study.

Indian Dermatol Online J

November 2024

Department of Dermatology, Venereology, and Leprosy, Gandhi Medical College, Secundarabad, Telangana, India.

Background: Diaper dermatoses broadly refer to skin disorders that occur in the diaper area. Dermoscopy is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that magnifies subsurface structures of the skin that are invisible to the unaided eye.

Aim: To identify and describe the dermoscopic features of dermatoses in the diaper area.

Introduction: Recent findings show that visible light, particularly blue light, stimulates melanogenesis in human skin, though the underlying mechanisms remain debated. This study aimed to determine the cell damage threshold of non-ionizing blue light on keratinocytes while preserving their ability to stimulate melanogenesis.

Methods: Human keratinocytes (N = 3) and melanocytes (N = 3) were isolated from skin samples of varying Fitzpatrick skin phototypes and irradiated with blue light (λpeak = 457 nm) and UVA light (λpeak = 385 nm).

Waardenburg syndrome type 2 (WS2) is an autosomal dominant disorder characterized by congenital sensorineural hearing loss, blue iris, and abnormal pigmentation of the hair and skin. WS2 is genetically heterogeneous, often resulting from pathogenic mutations in SOX10 gene. We identified a novel heterozygous frameshift mutation in SOX10 (NM_006941.

TERT de novo mutation-associated dyskeratosis congenita and porto-sinusoidal vascular disease: a case report.

J Med Case Rep

January 2025

Department of Hepatic Biliary Pancreatic Medicine, First Hospital of Jilin University, 1 Xinmin Avenue, Changchun, 130021, China.

Background: Dyskeratosis congenita is a rare genetic disease due to telomere biology disorder and characterized by heterogeneous clinical manifestations and severe complications. "Porto-sinusoidal vascular disease" has been recently proposed, according to new diagnostic criteria, to replace the term "idiopathic non-cirrhotic portal hypertension." TERT plays an important role in telomeric DNA repair and replication.
