Several techniques have been used to close oroantral communications, and they vary in their difficulty of execution and success. We present the "modified double-layered flap technique", which is similar to the treatment of labiopalatoschisis, has a high rate of success that is dependent on the skill of the surgeon, and will involve a steep learning curve.

Formation of a uterine niche following a C-section can predispose the patient to future obstetric complications such as dehiscence, uterine rupture, ectopic pregnancy, and placenta accreta. The significant morbidity and mortality of these complications along with increasing C-section rates emphasizes the importance of prevention. However, there are no clear guidelines on intra-operative protocol to prevent postpartum niche formation.

Recurrent oronasal fistula closure is a challenging phenomenon that has been managed with many surgical or flap techniques, such as local, regional, and distant flaps, with various modifications. Despite these options, the ideal method to repair this kind of chronic fistula has not yet been established. It is difficult to repair because recurrent surgical repairs or interventions cause this region to become more fibrotic with less vascular tissue, which considerably reduces the likelihood of closing this kind of fistula.

Pharyngocutaneous fistula is a serious complication after head and neck reconstruction and concurrent chemoradiotherapy, yet no consensus or practical protocols regarding the surgical timing and specific procedures could be found in the current literature. The authors aimed to review their clinical experience in surgical management and develop an algorithmic approach accordingly. A retrospective review of all hypopharyngeal cancer patients who developed pharyngocutaneous fistula during 2017 to 2021 at E-Da Hospital was conducted.

The aim of this study was to compare the clinical results of combining a pedicle connective palatal flap coupled with the trapezoid buccal flap against the buccal flap alone in the closure of the oroantral fistula. Individuals with oroantral communication were consecutively included and eventually randomly allocated into 2 groups. In the group test, oroantral fistula was treated with the association of a buccal flap with a pedicle palatal connective tissue flap; in group control, a classic buccal sliding flap was performed.
