We investigate the use of perfluorodecyltrichlorosilane-based self-assembled monolayer as seeding layer for chemical vapour deposition of HfO2 on large area CVD graphene. The deposition and evolution of the FDTS-based seed layer is investigated by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. Crystalline quality of graphene transferred from Cu is monitored during formation of the seed layer as well as the HfO2 growth using Raman spectroscopy. We demonstrate that FDTS-based seed layer significantly improves nucleation of HfO2 layers so that graphene can be coated in a conformal way with HfO2 layers as thin as 10 nm. Proof-of-concept experiments on 200 mm wafers presented here validate applicability of the proposed approach to wafer scale graphene device fabrication.

The fortification of aleurone cells represents a promising avenue for enhancing the nutritional quality of cereal. This study investigated dorsal aleurone thickness (DAT) in a rice diversity panel comprising 180 varieties, revealing that DAT of the Geng subspecies is typically greater than that of the Xian subspecies. The minerals and primary metabolites accumulated in the brown grains of ten rice varieties exhibiting distinct DAT were subjected to analysis using spectrometry-based technologies.

Green peas, with their high moisture content, require effective drying techniques to extend shelf life while preserving quality. Traditional drying methods face challenges due to the dense structure of the seed coat and wax layer, which limits moisture migration. This study investigates cold plasma (CP) pretreatment as a novel approach to enhance drying kinetics and maintain the quality attributes of green peas.

The periderm provides a protective barrier in many seed plant species. The development of the suberized phellem, which forms the outermost layer of this important tissue, has become a trait of interest for enhancing both plant resilience to stresses and plant-mediated CO sequestration in soils. Despite its importance, very few genes driving phellem development are known.

Seeds are complex structures composed of three regions, embryo, endosperm, and seed coat, with each further divided into subregions that consist of tissues, cell layers, and cell types. Although the seed is well characterized anatomically, much less is known about the genetic circuitry that dictates its spatial complexity. To address this issue, we profiled mRNAs from anatomically distinct seed subregions at several developmental stages.

Multicolored Bifacial Perovskite Solar Cells through Top Electrode Engineering.

Power generation and architectural beauty are equally important for designing efficient and esthetically appealing bifacial perovskite solar cells (PSCs). In this work, efficient and multicolored p-i-n-structured PSCs are achieved by taking advantage of a dielectric/metal/dielectric (DMD)-type (MoO/Ni/Ag/MoO) transparent counter electrode. The MoO/Ni underlayer effectively promotes the formation of a continuous and conductive ultrathin Ag transparent film, especially the 1 nm Ni seed layer adjusts the interface energy level between perovskite/MoO and Ag, resulting in Ohmic contact of the electrode to promote charge extraction and collection.
