By sequential solid-phase immunoadsorption (panning) steps, we have isolated a subset of lymphocytes (comprising 3-7% of rosetted cells) that contains high concentrations of histamine. We have used a radioenzymatic assay for the determination of histamine and have located 117 ng of histamine/1 x 10(6) cells in Leu-5+ (OKT-11), Leu-15+ cells. This subset did not contain basophils and was negative for Leu-4 (OKT-3), Leu-3 (OKT-4), Leu-2 (OKT-8), and 9.3 antigens. The function of this subset of rosetted cells has not been determined.

Intra-tumoral and peripheral blood TIGIT and PD-1 as immune biomarkers in nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma.

Am J Hematol

Blood Cancer Research Group, Mater Research, Translational Research Institute, University of Queensland, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

In classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL), responsiveness to immune-checkpoint blockade (ICB) is associated with specific tumor microenvironment (TME) and peripheral blood features. The role of ICB in nodular lymphocyte predominant Hodgkin lymphoma (NLPHL) is not established. To gain insights into its potential in NLPHL, we compared TME and peripheral blood signatures between HLs using an integrative multiomic analysis.

Predictors of risk of relapse in classic Hodgkin lymphoma.

J Clin Pathol

June 2023

Pathology / Cancer Research Division, Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington, USA.

Using multiparametric flow cytometric analysis, in a cohort of 62 patients with classic Hodgkin lymphoma having a median follow-up period of 69.5 months, we found-patients who experienced primary resistance or disease relapse (DR) had lower percentage of rosetted Hodgkin Reed-Sternberg cells (HRS-cells) as compared with patients who achieved sustained complete remission (SCR) (p=0.022); patients >35 years of age had higher percentage of HRS-cells (p=0.

Purpose: Reaggregates from E6 embryonic chicken retina exhibit areas corresponding to an inner plexiform layer (IPL), which presents an ideal in vitro model to test conditions and constraints of cholinergic and glutamatergic network formation, providing a basis for retinal tissue engineering. Here, we show that ipl formation is regulated by cholinergic starburst amacrine cells (SACs), a glial scaffold and by L-glutamate.

Methods: Rosetted spheroids were cultured in absence or presence of 0.

A 54-year-old Caucasian female presented with a 1 year history of intermittent numbness of the left leg progressing to bilateral, lower extremity sensory loss that advanced to include impaired vibration and proprioception. The subsequent thoracic spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan revealed a heterogeneous, avidly enhancing, centrally situated spinal cord mass involving T7 through T10 in association with thick linear enhancement of the anterior and posterior cord surfaces extending both superiorly and inferiorly. Both the cervical and lumbar spine MRI demonstrated diffuse leptomeningeal disease as well.

The aim of this study was to compare glial-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) treatment with brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) treatment of retinal transplants on restoration of visual responses in the superior colliculus (SC) of the S334ter line 3 rat model of rapid retinal degeneration (RD). RD rats (age 4-6 weeks) received subretinal transplants of intact sheets of fetal retina expressing the marker human placental alkaline phosphatase (hPAP). Experimental groups included: (1) untreated retinal sheet transplants, (2) GDNF-treated transplants, (3) BDNF-treated transplants, (4) none surgical, age-matched RD rats, (5) sham surgery RD controls, (6) progenitor cortex transplant RD controls, and (7) normal pigmented rat controls.
