Violations of CPT symmetry and Lorentz invariance are searched for by studying interference effects in B^{0} mixing and in B_{s}^{0} mixing. Samples of B^{0}→J/ψK_{S}^{0} and B_{s}^{0}→J/ψK^{+}K^{-} decays are recorded by the LHCb detector in proton-proton collisions at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3  fb^{-1}. No periodic variations of the particle-antiparticle mass differences are found, consistent with Lorentz invariance and CPT symmetry. Results are expressed in terms of the standard model extension parameter Δa_{μ} with precisions of O(10^{-15}) and O(10^{-14})  GeV for the B^{0} and B_{s}^{0} systems, respectively. With no assumption on Lorentz (non)invariance, the CPT-violating parameter z in the B_{s}^{0} system is measured for the first time and found to be Re(z)=-0.022±0.033±0.005 and Im(z)=0.004±0.011±0.002, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic.

Parametrization of Generalized Parton Distributions from t-Channel String Exchange in AdS Spaces.

Phys Rev Lett

December 2024

Center for Nuclear Theory, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, New York 11794-3800, USA.

We introduce a string-based parametrization for nucleon quark and gluon generalized parton distributions (GPDs) that is valid for all skewness. Our approach leverages conformal moments, representing them as the sum of spin-j nucleon A-form factor and skewness-dependent spin-j nucleon D-form factor, derived from t-channel string exchange in AdS spaces consistent with Lorentz invariance and unitarity. This model-independent framework, satisfying the polynomiality condition due to Lorentz invariance, uses Mellin moments from empirical data to estimate these form factors.

Non-Gaussian diffusive fluctuations in Dirac fluids.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

December 2024

Department of Physics, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA 01003.

Dirac fluids-interacting systems obeying particle-hole symmetry and Lorentz invariance-are among the simplest hydrodynamic systems; they have also been studied as effective descriptions of transport in strongly interacting Dirac semimetals. Direct experimental signatures of the Dirac fluid are elusive, as its charge transport is diffusive as in conventional metals. In this paper, we point out a striking consequence of fluctuating relativistic hydrodynamics: The full counting statistics (FCS) of charge transport is highly non-Gaussian.

Dirac Equation and Fisher Information.

Entropy (Basel)

Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Ariel University, Ariel 40700, Israel.

Previously, it was shown that Schrödinger's theory can be derived from a potential flow Lagrangian provided a Fisher information term is added. This approach was later expanded to Pauli's theory of an electron with spin, which required a Clebsch flow Lagrangian with non-zero vorticity. Here, we use the recent relativistic flow Lagrangian to represent Dirac's theory with the addition of a Lorentz invariant Fisher information term as is required by quantum mechanics.

Department of Physics, ETH Zürich, 8093 Zürich, Switzerland.

Article Synopsis
  • Researchers developed methods to create Bell inequalities for systems with multiple three-level parties participating in experiments.
  • The study simplifies complex classical correlations by focusing on a lower-dimensional space involving specific one- and two-body observables.
  • The findings have potential applications in detecting Bell correlations in spin-1 models and experimental setups in solid-state physics or atomic ensembles.

Topological signatures of triply degenerate fermions in Heusler alloys: anstudy.

J Phys Condens Matter

Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Vadodara, Gujarat 390002, India.

Triply degenerate nodal point (TP) fermions, lacking elementary particle counterparts, have been theoretically anticipated as quasiparticle excitations near specific band crossing points constrained by distinct space-group symmetries instead of Lorentz invariance. Here, based oncalculations and symmetry analysis, we demonstrate the presence of TP fermions in Heusler alloys. Furthermore, we predict that these Heusler alloys are dynamically stable, exhibiting TP fermions along four distinctaxes in the F-43m space group.
