AI Article Synopsis

  • Nutrition is crucial for children with cleft lip and/or palate, requiring specific modifications to meet their needs and ensure proper growth.
  • These children face challenges such as feeding difficulties, nasal regurgitation, and choking due to their anatomical condition.
  • The text emphasizes the importance of effectively managing these feeding problems in infants with cleft lip/palate to prevent life-threatening situations.

Article Abstract

In a child with cleft lip and/or palate, nutrition is the first priority as for any other child. These children have specific physical limitations. To fulfill their nutritional requirement, these children need modifications in order to thrive and grow. Failure to adjust to these needs could place the children into a potential life-threatening situation. One of the immediate problems to be addressed in a newborn with cleft lip/palate is difficulty in feeding. Nasal regurgitation and choking are common because of inability of the palate to separate the nasal and oral cavities. The case presented here discusses the management of feeding problem in the infant with cleft lip/palate. How to cite this article: Goswami M, Jangra B, Bhushan U. Prediction of dry matter intake in growing Black Bengal goats using artificial neural networks.

Trop Anim Health Prod

Livestock Production and Management Section, ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, 243 122, India.

Dry matter intake (DMI) determination is essential for effective management of meat goats, especially in optimizing feed utilization and production efficiency. Unfortunately, farmers often face challenges in accurately predicting DMI which leads to wastage of feed and an increase in the cost of production. This investigation aimed to predict DMI in Black Bengal goats by using body weight (BW), body condition score (BCS), average daily gain (ADG), and metabolic body weight (MBW) by applying an artificial neural network (ANN) model.

Background: Precision nutrition-based methods develop tailored interventions and/or recommendations accounting for determinants of intra- and inter-individual variation in response to the same diet, compared to current 'one-size-fits-all' population-level approaches. Determinants may include genetics, current dietary habits and eating patterns, circadian rhythms, health status, gut microbiome, socioeconomic and psychosocial characteristics, and physical activity. In this systematic review, we examined the evidence base for the effect of interventions based on precision nutrition approaches on overweight and obesity in children and adolescents to help inform future research and global guidelines.

Fever and diarrhea are the common symptoms of infection (CDI); however, pseudomembranous enteritis, megacolonization, and paralytic ileus have been observed in severe cases. spores are resistant to several types of disinfectants. Thus, they are often the causative pathogens of healthcare-associated infections.

Background: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are commonly used for managing gastroesophageal disorders but concerns about their potential association with increased stroke risk have emerged, especially among patients with pre-existing cardiovascular conditions such as acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This systematic review and meta-analysis aim to assess the risk of stroke associated with PPI use, stratified by the presence or absence of pre-existing CVD.

Methods: This review was conducted following the PRISMA guidelines and included studies up to March 2024 from PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science.

Plasma is considered as the fourth state of matter, and atmospheric cold plasma (cold plasma) is a type of plasma consisting of ionized gases containing excited species of atoms, molecules, ions, and free radicals at near room temperature. Cold plasma is generated by applying high voltage to gases, causing it to ionize thus forming plasma. Although cold plasma has been found to break seed dormancy and improve germination rate, only a few studies have explored the potential of cold plasma against insect herbivory.
