Over the last decade, there have been significant advances in endoscopic techniques for peritrochanteric disorders of the hip. Endoscopic repair of gluteus medius and minimus tears has demonstrated good to excellent results in most patients who meet surgical indications with extremely low complication rates. Treatment of coxa saltans and other peritrochanteric disorders are also described, though the literature lacks sufficient evidence to guide treatment. As our understanding of peritrochanteric disorders evolves, endoscopic intervention will continue to progress with the development of improved technology to treat these disorders and ensure good outcomes.

Greater trochanteric syndrome (GTS) is a common condition clinically manifested by pain and tenderness over the greater trochanter. MR imaging plays a pivotal role in investigating the underlying cause of GTS. MR imaging can detect abnormalities not only in symptomatic but also in asymptomatic hips, thereby revealing structural damage in the gluteal tendons and muscles during both clinical and preclinical phases.

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a degenerative joint disorder characterized by the progressive deterioration of articular cartilage driven and sustained by catabolic and inflammatory processes that lead to pain and functional impairment. Adipose-derived stem cells (ASCs) have emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for OA due to their regenerative potential, which mainly relies on the adaptive release of paracrine molecules that are soluble or encapsulated in extracellular vesicles (EVs). The biological effects of EVs specifically depend on their cargo; in particular, microRNAs (miRNAs) can specifically modulate target cell function through gene expression regulation.

Distal radius fractures are the third most common type of fracture in Germany after fractures of the femoral neck and peritrochanteric femoral fractures. In 2019 a total of 72,087 cases were registered with an incidence of 106 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (81,570 fractures of the femoral neck, 73,785 peritrochanteric fractures). Many of these fractures are surgically treated also in this hospital but with controversial views on the optimal treatment.

Aims: To identify and highlight pertinent US features that could serve as imaging biomarkers to describe different patient phenotypes, within Great Trochanteric Pain Syndrome (GTPS) clinical diagnosis.
Materials And Methods: Using ultrasound we evaluated eighty-eight clinically diagnosed patients with GTPS, for tendon matrix changes and calcium deposits in the gluteus medius (superoposterior and lateral aspects) and in the gluteus minimus. Peritrochanteric examination included fascia lata, trochanteric bursa, cortical irregularities and the presence of enthesophytes.
