Goal: While studies have examined quality and health outcomes related to the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS's) Hospital Value-Based Purchasing (HVBP) Program, a significant gap exists in the literature regarding the relationship between pay-for-performance initiatives and hospital financial performance in the program's Efficiency and Cost Reduction domain. This study examined the association between hospitals' cost inefficiency and participation in the HVBP Program by estimating the probability and magnitude of improvement or achievement in the program's Efficiency and Cost Reduction domain.
Methods: The 2014-2019 Efficiency and Cost Reduction domain data were obtained from CMS and merged with the American Hospital Association's Annual Survey Database.

Cu/Diamond (Cu/Dia) composites are regarded as next-generation thermal dissipation materials and hold tremendous potential for use in future high-power electronic devices. The interface structure between the Cu matrix and the diamond has a significant impact on the thermophysical properties of the composite materials. In this study, Cu/Dia composite materials were fabricated using the Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) process.

Electrically rechargeable zinc-air batteries (ZABs) are emerging as promising energy storage devices in the post-lithium era, leveraging the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) at the air cathodes. Efficient bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysts, capable of catalyzing both the ORR and OER, are essential for the operation of rechargeable ZABs. Traditional Pt- and RuO/IrO-based catalysts are not ideal, as they lack sufficient bifunctional ORR and OER activity, exhibit limited long-term durability, require high overpotentials and are expensive.
