I did not expect to learn much during my two weeks in the day hospice. Indeed, I was unsure what a nurse could do in such an environment. I had a vague impression that there would be arts and crafts, and people passing the time.

Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility and accuracy of a robotic device used clinically in soft tissues (abdomen and lung), modified in design and workflow, to perform needle insertion in percutaneous bone procedures.

Methods: The primary objective was safety (severe complications) of robotic-assisted insertion in this new application. Secondary objectives were feasibility (placement technical success), performance (acceptable insertions rate), accuracy (lateral deviation), number of intermediate CT-scans and tolerance (minor/moderate complications).

Management and outcome of mesh infection after abdominal wall reconstruction in a tertiary care center.

Hernia

January 2025

Department of Infectious Diseases, Hospices Civils de Lyon, Service des Maladies Infectieuses et Tropicales, 103 Grande Rue de la Croix-Rousse, Lyon, 69004, France.

Purpose: Abdominal wall reconstruction is a common surgical procedure, with a post-operative risk of mesh-associated infection of which management is poorly known. This study aims to comprehensively analyze clinical and microbiological aspects of mesh infection, treatment modalities, and associated outcomes.

Methods: Patients with abdominal mesh infection were included in a retrospective observational cohort (2010-2023).

Background: Ventricular tachycardia (VT) substrate characteristics before transcatheter pulmonary valve replacement (TPVR) in repaired tetralogy of Fallot (rTOF) are unknown.

Objectives: In this study, the authors sought to evaluate substrates for sustained monomorphic VT before TPVR in rTOF.

Methods: Retrospective (2017 to 2021) and prospective (commencing 2021) rTOF patients with native right ventricular outflow tract referred for electrophysiology study (EPS) before TPVR were included.

Position statement and guidelines about Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) also known as "Endo-sleeve".

J Visc Surg

January 2025

Digestive Surgery, UFR Lyon Esthôpital Edouard-Herriot, hospices civils de Lyon, université Lyon 1, Lyon, France; Center spécialisé et intégré de l'obésité, Carmen Laboratory, Team 1, Inserm Unit, 1060 Lyon, France.

IS ESG EFFECTIVE IN THE TREATMENT OF OBESITY AND ASSOCIATEDCOMORBIDITIES?: Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) is more effective than lifestyle modifications alone for weight loss and improving obesity-related comorbidities. While it has less effect on weight loss compared to Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (LSG) in the short to medium term, it offers similar comorbidities resolution to LSG. IS ESG A SAFE PROCEDURE, AND WHAT ARE ITS RISKS?: The safety profile of ESG is consistently supported in the literature.

Temporary Transvenous Pacing Performed in the Intensive Care Unit or in the Catheterization Laboratory.

Pacing Clin Electrophysiol

January 2025

Service de rythmologie cardiaque, Hôpital Cardiologique Louis Pradel, Hospices Civils de Lyon, Lyon, France.

Background: Temporary transvenous pacing (TTP) is a common procedure, predominantly performed in the catheterization laboratory (cath lab) because of presumed lower complication rate. This study aims to evaluate the efficacy and safety of TTP placement in the ICU compared to TTP placement in the cath lab.

Methods: This retrospective, real-life study included all patients requiring TTP in a tertiary care ICU between 2019 and 2022.
