Mitochondrial biogenesis relies on both the nuclear and mitochondrial genomes, and imbalance in their expression can lead to inborn errors of metabolism, inflammation, and aging. Here, we investigate N6AMT1, a nucleo-cytosolic methyltransferase that exhibits genetic codependency with mitochondria. We determine transcriptional and translational profiles of and report that it is required for the cytosolic translation of TRMT10C (MRPP1) and PRORP (MRPP3), two subunits of the mitochondrial RNAse P enzyme.

Background: Critical care beds are a limited resource, yet research indicates that recommendations for postoperative critical care admission based on patient-level risk stratification are not followed. It is unclear how prioritisation decisions are made in real-world settings and the effect of this prioritisation on outcomes.

Methods: This was a prespecified analysis of an observational cohort study of adult patients undergoing inpatient surgery, conducted in 274 hospitals across the UK and Australasia during 2017.

Alcohol septal ablation (ASA) has been widely used in relieving the left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction caused by hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy (HOCM). There is limited data about the utility of ASA in cases of cardiac amyloidosis with LVOT obstruction. Our patient is 71-year-old male with a history of multiple myeloma complicated by cardiac amyloidosis and end-stage renal disease on hemodialysis who presented from the dialysis center due to hypotension.

Intrinsically disordered regions regulate RhlE RNA helicase functions in bacteria.

Nucleic Acids Res

Department of Microbiology and Molecular Medicine, CMU, Faculty of Medicine, University of Geneva, Geneva, Switzerland.

RNA helicases-central enzymes in RNA metabolism-often feature intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) that enable phase separation and complex molecular interactions. In the bacterial pathogen Pseudomonas aeruginosa, the non-redundant RhlE1 and RhlE2 RNA helicases share a conserved REC catalytic core but differ in C-terminal IDRs. Here, we show how the IDR diversity defines RhlE RNA helicase specificity of function.
