Al-K heterometallic terpene oximate derivatives with uncommon structural features are reported. These species react with an aryl ketone leading to heterometallic enolates via an unusual route. Isolation of a remarkable heterometallic Al-K enolate confirms the cooperative mechanism proposed by DFT calculations, where the oximate ligand has a prominent role. From these enolates the formation of new C-C bonds is straightforward.

A new series of eight first- and second-generation heterometallic ferrocenyl-derived metal-arene metallodendrimers, containing ruthenium(ii)-p-cymene, ruthenium(ii)-hexamethylbenzene, rhodium(iii)-cyclopentadienyl or iridium(iii)-cyclopentadienyl moieties have been prepared. The metallodendrimers were synthesized by first reacting DAB-(NH2)n (where n = 4 or 8, DAB = diaminobutane) with salicylaldehyde, and then the Schiff-base dendritic ligands were reacted in a one-pot reaction with the appropriate [(η(6)-p-iPrC6H4Me)RuCl2]2, [(η(6)-C6Me6)RuCl2]2, [(η(5)-C5Me5)IrCl2]2 or [(η(5)-C5Me5)RhCl2]2 dimers, in the presence of 4-pyridylferrocene. Heterometallic binuclear analogues were prepared as models of the larger metallodendrimers.

Design, synthesis and characterisation of new chimeric ruthenium(II)-gold(I) complexes as improved cytotoxic agents.

Dalton Trans

June 2015

Laboratory of Metals in Medicine, Department of Chemistry, University of Florence, via della Lastruccia 3, 50019 Sesto Fiorentino, Florence, Italy.

Two heterobimetallic complexes, i.e. [RuCl2(p-cymene)(μ-dppm)AuC] (1) and [RuCl2(p-cymene)(μ-dppm)Au(S-thiazoline)] (3), based on known cytotoxic [Ru(p-cymene)Cl2(PR3)] and [AuX(PR3)] (X = Cl, SR) molecular scaffolds, with the diphosphane linker 1,1-bis(diphenylphosphino)methane, dppm, were conveniently prepared and characterised.

Three-dimensional homochiral manganese-lanthanide frameworks based on chiral camphorates with multi-coordination modes.

Chem Commun (Camb)

March 2013

Henan Key Laboratory of Polyoxometalate Chemistry, Institute of Molecular and Crystal Engineering, School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Henan University, Kaifeng 475004, PR China.

A series of 3D homochiral manganese-lanthanide frameworks have been synthesized based on chiral camphoric acid. In the heterometallic features, D-camphoric acids are unprecedentedly embedded in three coordination modes.
