Using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS), we examine the electronic structure of transition metal dichalcogenide heterostructures (TMDCHs) composed of monolayers of MoS2 and WS2. STS data are obtained for heterostructures of varying stacking configuration as well as the individual monolayers. Analysis of the tunneling spectra includes the influence of finite sample temperature, yield information about the quasi-particle bandgaps, and the band alignment of MoS2 and WS2. We report the band gaps of MoS2 (2.16 ± 0.04 eV) and WS2 (2.38 ± 0.06 eV) in the materials as measured on the heterostructure regions and the general type II band alignment for the heterostructure, which shows an interfacial band gap of 1.45 ± 0.06 eV.

This paper addresses achieving the high time-bandwidth product necessary for low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) target detection and localization in complex multipath environments. Time bandwidth product is often limited by dynamic environments and platform maneuvers. This paper introduces data-driven wideband focusing methods for passive sonar that optimize parameterized unitary matrices to align signal subspaces across the frequency band without relying on wave propagation models which are subject to mismatch in complex multipath environments.

Introduction: Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) leads to dysfunction and impairment in neurological structures and cognitive functions. Despite extensive research, the pathophysiological mechanisms and effects of MDD on the brain remain unclear. This study aims to assess the impact of MDD on brain activity using EEG power spectral analysis and asymmetry metrics.

The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA) mission is designed to detect space gravitational wave sources in the millihertz band. A critical factor in the success of this mission is the residual acceleration noise metric of the internal test mass (TM) within the ultra-precise inertial sensors. Existing studies indicate that the coupling effects of residual gas and temperature gradient fluctuations significantly influence this metric, primarily manifesting as the radiometer effect and the outgassing effect.

From the time of discovery, CHNHSnI has been a promising candidate in photovoltaics due to its outstanding optoelectronic properties. However, stabilization was not easy to achieve in CHNHSnI-based solar cells. Because CHNHSnI was used as an absorber, its naturally-occurring self-doping property spontaneously modified band alignment, which increased carrier recombination and decreased the efficiency of solar cell gradually.
