Cell-Free Technologies for Proteomics and Protein Engineering.

Cell-free translation systems facilitate rapid production of specific proteins and are particularly suited as high-throughput methods for whole-genome protein synthesis. Moreover, these systems do not rely on living cells, thereby allowing the synthesis of unstable or cytotoxic proteins in vitro. In this review, we describe the principles and potential applications of cell-free protein translation systems and the future prospects of proteomics approaches using next-generation sequencing and cell-free expression technologies.

Professionals' perception on nutritional care of adult patients in comprehensive specialized hospitals of East Wollega Zone, Ethiopia.

BMC Nutr

January 2025

Department of Public Health , Institute of Health Sciences, Wollega University, Nekemte Town, Post Box 395, Nekemte, Oromia, Ethiopia.

Background: Adult patients suffering from malnutrition in hospitals are often overlooked, especially in low-income countries. Health care professionals play a vital role in identifying and managing the nutritional needs of patients. However, their perception regarding the nutritional care of adult patients have not been thoroughly examined.

Background: Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) is a prevalent condition worldwide, significantly diminishing quality of life and productivity. Except for the alignment change, muscle activation patterns (MAP) have garnered increasing attention as another crucial factor contributing to KOA.

Objective: This study explores the factors, characteristics, and effects of MAP changes caused by KOA, providing a neuromuscular-based causal analysis for the rehabilitation treatment of KOA.

Background: Refugee women's reproductive health (RH) outcomes have been impacted by several factors, including experiencing war, lack of access to healthcare, and possible gender-based violence. After resettlement, low health literacy, financial difficulties, cultural and linguistic barriers, and unfamiliarity with the healthcare system also add to the preexisting barriers. Although several efforts have focused on health education and improving health literacy among refugee women, there has not been a validated tool to measure the effectiveness of these trainings and their possible impact.

Lewy body diseases and the gut.

Aligning Science Across Parkinson's (ASAP) Collaborative Research Network, Chevy Chase, MD, 20815, USA.

Gastrointestinal (GI) involvement in Lewy body diseases (LBDs) has been observed since the initial descriptions of patients by James Parkinson. Recent experimental and human observational studies raise the possibility that pathogenic alpha-synuclein (⍺-syn) might develop in the GI tract and subsequently spread to susceptible brain regions. The cellular and mechanistic origins of ⍺-syn propagation in disease are under intense investigation.

Enhancing the role of mass media in the translation of evidence from health policy and systems research in Nigeria.

Health Res Policy Syst

January 2025

Health Policy Research Group, Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, College of Medicine, University of Nigeria Enugu Campus, Enugu, Nigeria.

Background: There are massive gaps in communication between health researchers and policy-makers in Nigeria, which constrains the use of research evidence for policy-making. Mass media can help in bridging the gaps, especially since the media has the reach and a reputation for presenting information in ways that elicit actions from the public and policy-makers.

Objective: There is a small body of emerging literature from Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa, evidencing the usefulness of the media to encourage evidence translation in the health sector; and even evidence translation theories are light on dissemination.
