Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has gained significant attention as a promising nonmetallic semiconductor photocatalyst due to its photochemical stability, favorable electronic properties, and efficient light absorption. Nevertheless, its practical applications are hindered by limitations such as low specific surface area, rapid recombination of photogenerated charge carriers, poor electrical conductivity, and restricted photo-response ranges. This review explores recent advancements in the synthesis, modification and application of g-C3N4 and its nanocomposites with a focus on addressing these challenges.

Hibernating mammals such as the thirteen-lined ground squirrel () experience significant reductions in oxidative metabolism and body temperature when entering a state known as torpor. Animals entering or exiting torpor do not experience permanent loss of brain function or other injuries, and the processes that enable such neuroprotection are not well understood. To gain insight into changes in protein function that occur in the dramatically different physiological states of hibernation, we performed quantitative phosphoproteomics experiments on thirteen-lined ground squirrels that are summer-active, winter-torpid, and spring-active.

The immunosuppressive residual tumor microenvironment (IRTM) is a key factor in the high recurrence and metastasis rates of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) after microwave ablation (MWA). Cholesterol-rich tumor fragments significantly contribute to IRTM deterioration. This study developed a cholesterol-targeted catalytic hydrogel, DA-COD-OD-HCS, to enhance the synergy between MWA and immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for HCC treatment.

Budding yeast is widely used as a model organism to study the biogenesis and architecture of organellar membranes, which can be visualized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Preparation of yeast cells for TEM can be quite challenging and time-consuming. Here, we describe an optimized protocol for conventional fixation of yeast cells with potassium permanganate combined with cell wall permeabilization with sodium metaperiodate and embedding in Epon.

The level of consumption of summer tea is a problem in the development of China's tea industry. Current strategies to enhance the quality of summer and autumn teas primarily target the cultivation environment, with less emphasis on processing improvements. This study aimed to optimize the fermentation parameters to impact the quality of summer and autumn teas.
