Standard ultrasound (US) finds wide use in renal diseases as a screening procedure, but it is not always able to characterize lesions, especially in differential diagnosis between benign and malignant lesions. In contrast, contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) is appropriate in differentiating between solid and cystic lesions as well as between tumors and pseudotumors. We show the case of a nephropathic patient who showed a complex, large, growing renal mass, characterized through a CEUS.

Background: Emergency colorectal resections hold a significant position in general surgical practice, and pathologies of the left colon are relatively common. This study was conducted to assess the outcomes of isolated left colon surgeries with benign etiologies, drawing on clinicopathological and biochemical data.
Methods: We carried out a retrospective review and statistical analysis of demographic, clinical, and laboratory data of patients who underwent left colon surgery at the general surgery clinic of a tertiary care hospital, excluding those with malignancy-related emergencies, from January 2017 to January 2022.

Hyperthyroidism and chronic kidney disease (CKD) are common diseases of geriatric cats, and often occur concurrently. Thus, a thorough understanding of the influence of thyroid function on renal function is of significant value for all feline practitioners. Among other effects, hyperthyroidism causes protein catabolism and increases renal blood flow and glomerular filtration rate (GFR).

Objectives: The aim of the study was to describe renal pelvis (RP) and ureteral ultrasonographic measurements in a population of cats with confirmed benign ureteral obstruction (UO) by antegrade pyelography. The secondary objective was to further describe clinical findings associated with minimally dilated obstructed kidneys in an attempt to better understand its occurrence.
Methods: Retrospective case series of cats diagnosed with benign UO were confirmed by antegrade pyelography.
