When a binary dependent variable is misclassified, that is, recorded in the category other than where it really belongs, probit and logit estimates are biased and inconsistent. In some cases the probability of misclassification may vary systematically with covariates, and thus be endogenous. In this paper we develop an estimation approach that corrects for endogenous misclassification, validate our approach using a simulation study, and apply it to the analysis of a treatment program designed to improve family dynamics. Our results show that endogenous misclassification could lead to potentially incorrect conclusions unless corrected using an appropriate technique.

Ambivalent partnership of the Drosophila posterior class Hox protein Abdominal-B with Extradenticle and Homothorax.

Centro de Biología Molecular Severo Ochoa (CBM), CSIC-UAM, Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, Cantoblanco, Madrid, Spain.

Hox proteins, a sub-group of the homeodomain (HD) transcription factor family, provide positional information for axial patterning in development and evolution. Hox protein functional specificity is reached, at least in part, through interactions with Pbc (Extradenticle (Exd) in Drosophila) and Meis/Prep (Homothorax (Hth) in Drosophila) proteins. Most of our current knowledge of Hox protein specificity stems from the study of anterior and central Hox proteins, identifying the molecular and structural bases for Hox/Pbc/Meis-Prep cooperative action.

The involvement of axillary lymph nodes (ALNs) is a critical prognostic factor affecting patient management and outcomes in breast cancer (BC). This study aims to comprehensively analyze the clinical data of BC patients, evaluate ultrasonic signs of ALNs, and explore the implications of a prediction model for ALN metastasis (ALNM) in early-stage BC patients based on ultrasonic features and clinical data. This study retrospectively analyzed ultrasonic features and clinical data from 216 patients diagnosed with unilateral invasive BC.

Background: Pharmaceutical expenditure has been a major concern for decision-makers worldwide. One strategy to control medication costs involves applying pharmacoeconomic (PE) methods in the approval and listing of new medications. Pharmacists need to possess the knowledge, skill, and competence to analyse and implement PE study findings.

Neuropathic pain characteristics in patients with pain-related temporomandibular disorders.

J Oral Facial Pain Headache

June 2024

Department of Orofacial Pain & Dysfunction, Academic Centre for Dentistry Amsterdam (ACTA), 1081 LA Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

In orofacial pain patients, pain-related temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and neuropathic pain (NP) can both be present. The aim of this cross-sectional study was to examine whether in patients with orofacial pain, associations can be found between (subdiagnoses of) pain-related TMD and NP. Participants were asked to fill in the questionnaires of the Diagnostic Criteria for TMD (DC/TMD) and a screening questionnaire for NP, the Douleur Neuropathique 4 (DN4).
