Danggui Buxue Tang (DBT) is a simple combination of Radix and Radix (5:1), with a variety pharmacological activities. In the present study, a single intravenous injection of 30 mg/kg streptozotocin and subsequent six weeks of high glucose diet in Sprague Dawley rats were used to induce diabetic nephropathy. Rats with diabetes mellitus showed increased levels of fasting blood glucose (FBG), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), serum creatinine (Scr), serum and urine β2-microglobulins (β2-MG), and type IV collagen (all P<0.05). DBT treatment significantly decreased the levels of FBG, BUN, Scr, serum and urine β2-MG, and type IV collagen. Furthermore, DBT treatment significantly and dose-dependently restored the ultrastructural injury, and reduced the expression of heparanase, compared with the vehicle (P<0.05). Therefore, DBT may be a novel therapeutic approach for the prevention and treatment of diabetic nephrology.

Objective: Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) is extensively utilized in managing hidden bleeding following an intertrochanteric femur fracture (IFF). Despite its widespread use, the most effective CHM approach for addressing hidden bleeding post-IFF remains unclear. A Bayesian network meta-analysis was conducted to identify a CHM that both effectively reduces hidden bleeding and stabilizes blood volume after IFF.

The study aimed to investigate the efficacy of Danggui Buxue Decoction (DBD) in treating primary dysmenorrhea (PD) and uncover its mechanisms, thereby validating its traditional use. Using ultra-high performance liquid chromatography-quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q-TOF/MS), 38 compounds in DBD were identified. PD model rats were established via cold stimulation, estradiol benzoate, and oxytocin injections.

Article Synopsis
  • Retinopathy is a common diabetes complication causing vision problems, and the study focuses on the effects of Danggui Buxue decoction (RRP) on retinal Müller cells injured by low oxygen and high glucose conditions.
  • RRP was administered to rats, and various tests were conducted to evaluate cell viability, apoptosis, and the expression of angiogenesis and inflammatory factors.
  • The results showed that RRP reduced cell apoptosis and inflammation while modulating the ATF4/CHOP pathway in hypoxia-injured retinal Müller cells.
