This paper discusses the potential application of a laser-endoscopic spectral analyzer in fibrolaryngoscopy for early detection of neoplasms (luminescence combined with spectrophotometry) as well as for examination of the laryngeal mucosa by measuring oxygenation and blood flow in microcirculation with the aid of spectrophotometry. The results of examinations of 35 patients have shown that the laser-endoscopic spectral analyzer can be used to perform premorphological rapid tests in cancer diagnosis and to assess the efficacy of therapeutic methods.

Introduction: We compare long-term voice outcomes in patients treated with European Laryngeal Society (ELS) classification Type I, Type II, or Type V cordectomy. The aim is to understand the impact of Type V cordectomy on voice outcomes in relation to Type I and Type II cordectomy.
Methods: A retrospective review of patients treated with Type I, Type II, or Type V cordectomy by a single surgeon over a 20-year period was performed.

Barrett's adenocarcinoma may occur in multiple sites, and recurrence and metachronous lesions are the major problems with endoscopic resection. Therefore, early detection of such lesions is ideal to achieve complete resection and obtain improved survival rates with minimally invasive treatment. Laser imaging systems allow multiple modalities of endoscopic imaging by using white light laser, flexible spectral imaging color enhancement (FICE), blue laser imaging (BLI), and linked color imaging even at a distant view.

Objectives: Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is associated with a high risk of perinatal morbidity and mortality. The condition results from intertwin vascular connections in the shared placenta. We report here a case of early, severe TTTS that failed to respond to serial amniocenteses and that was successfully treated by means of superselective laser coagulation.
