Objective: To determine the correlation among five different types of tumor regression grading (TRG) systems. Test-retest reliability analyses were conducted at two time points to assess the internal validity and consistency of these five TRG systems.
Methods: A test-retest study was performed in 34 pathologically confirmed rectal adenocarcinoma specimens.

Early recurrence (ER) following surgery for rectal cancer is a significant factor impacting patient survival rates. Tsai identified age, preoperative neoadjuvant therapy, length of hospital stay, tumour location, and pathological stage as factors influencing the risk of ER. Postoperative monitoring for ER should encompass a thorough medical history review, physical examination, tumour marker testing, and imaging studies.

In this manuscript, I comment on the article by Pospisilova published in the recent issue of the journal, in which selective embolization was used to treat anorectal hemangioma, a rare disease causing lower gastrointestinal bleeding. Anorectal hemangioma can easily be mistaken; for example, the patient in this case was previously misdiagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Choosing the appropriate tests and understanding the typical manifestations of anorectal hemangioma under colonoscopy, computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and other tests are beneficial for diagnosis.

Concurrent inhibition of angiogenesis and immune checkpoints represents a potent therapeutic approach. We conducted a phase 2, multicenter, basket study to assess the efficacy and safety of combination therapy of famitinib (anti-angiogenic agent) plus camrelizumab (PD-1 antagonist) in patients with metastatic solid tumors across 11 cohorts (this study was registered at Clinicaltrials.gov [NCT04346381]).

Introduction: Organ preservation (OP) strategies are gaining interest in improving the quality of life in the management of rectal cancer, particularly for tumors located in the distal or middle rectum. The optimal OP protocol is still not standardized and relies on randomized trials. This review summarizes past and ongoing studies on OP protocols for adenocarcinoma of the distal and middle rectum.
