In the present study, Candida antarctica lipase B (CALB) was encapsulated in inorganic nanocrystal composites with flower-like shapes, retaining 92% of its catalytic activity compared to that of native lipase. Surprisingly, CALB-inorganic crystal nanoflowers exhibited promiscuous activity at levels 25- and 4-fold higher than those of native lipase and the commercial immobilized lipase Novozym 435, respectively, as demonstrated by the chemoenzymatic epoxidation of fatty acids conducted in organic media. To the best of our knowledge, we showed for the first time that the promiscuity of enzymes can be significantly improved by enzyme immobilization, suggesting that the enzyme-inorganic nanocrystal composites are a very promising type of immobilized enzyme that can be used to address the challenge of the extremely low efficiency of enzymatic promiscuity.

The current investigation explores tri-hybrid mediated blood flow through a ciliary annular model, designed to emulate an endoscopic environment. The human circulatory system, driven by the metachronal ciliary waves, is examined in this study to understand how ternary nanoparticles influence wave-like flow dynamics in the presence of interfacial nanolayers. We also analyze the effect of an induced magnetic field on Ag-Cu-/blood flow within the annulus, focusing on thermal radiation, heat sources, buoyancy forces and ciliary motion.

A novel dual-mode microfluidic sensing platform integrating photoelectrochemical (PEC) and fluorescence (FL) sensors was developed for the sensitive monitoring of heart fatty acid binding protein (h-FABP). First, BiVO/AgInS (BVAIS) composites with excellent photoelectric activity were synthesized as sensing matrices. The BVAIS heterojunction with a well-matched internal energy level structure provided a stable photocurrent.

High-performance bulk graphite (HPBG) that simultaneously integrates superior electrical conductivity and excellent strength is in high demand, yet it remains critical and challenging. Herein a novel approach is introduced utilizing MOF-derived nanoporous metal/carbon composites as precursors to circumvent this traditional trade-off. The resulting bulk graphite, composed of densely packed multilayered graphene sheets functionalized with diverse cobalt forms (nanoparticles, single atoms, and clusters), exhibits unprecedented electrical conductivity in all directions (in-plane: 7311 S cm⁻¹, out-of-plane: 5541 S cm⁻¹) and excellent mechanical strength (flexural: 101.

Regeneration of diabetic bone defects remains a formidable challenge due to the chronic hyperglycemic state, which triggers the accumulation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). To address this issue, we have engineered a bimetallic metal-organic framework-derived Mn@CoO@Pt nanoenzyme loaded with alendronate and Mg ions (termed MCPtA) to regulate the hyperglycemic microenvironment and recover the osteogenesis/osteoclast homeostasis. Notably, the Mn atom substitution in the CoO nanocrystalline structure could modulate the electronic structure and significantly improve the SOD/CAT catalytic activity for ROS scavenging.

Gold nanoparticles represent nanosized colloidal entities with high relevance for both basic and applied research. When gold nanoparticles are functionalized with polymer-molecule ligands, hybrid nanoparticles emerge whose interactions with the environment are controlled by the polymer coating layer: Colloidal stability and structure formation on the single particle level as well as at the supracolloidal scale can be enabled and engineered by tailoring the composition and architecture of this polymer coating. These possibilities in controlling structure formation may lead to synergistic and/or emergent functional properties of such hybrid colloidal systems.
