We have applied the micronucleus (MN) assay to the measurement of genotoxicity in microcrustaceans. Daphnids (Daphnia magna) and Copepods (Acanthocyclops robustus) were collected in situ and acclimated in the lab for 24h. The MN assay was successful with the Daphnids but not with the Copepods. Adult Daphnids were exposed to sublethal concentrations of metals (Cu, Zn, Cd) or insecticide (deltamethrin) for 2 and 7d. Dose-dependent induction of MN was observed after 2 d exposure, with 2-fold induction at the highest doses for each chemical tested. The advantages and ecological relevance of using Daphnids in genotoxicity assessment are highlighted. The Daphnid assay may be a reliable test for aquatic genotoxicity hazard/risk assessment and a useful alternative to studies of amphibians.

The reported relative biological effectiveness (RBE) for thermal neutrons has a large range (5-51, for cytogenetic endpoints), which can confound radiation protection decision-making. To determine whether thermal neutron spectra can influence RBE, the RBE of reactor-derived thermal neutrons of average energy 31 meV was evaluated in human peripheral blood lymphocytes using two classical DNA double-strand break endpoints: the dicentric chromosome assay (DCA) and the cytokinesis-block micronucleus assay. Dose-response curves for 41 to 408 mGy revealed a preference for linear regression.

Our previous investigations on the cyto- and genotoxic properties of the water samples from the rivers Drenica and Sitnica in the Kosovo revealed an increased mutagenic potential. More recently we reported genotoxic effects induced in fish (erythrocytes) collected in five locations along the rivers Drenica and Sitnica during 2016 and 2017. In this paper, the data obtained from the assessment of the genetic damages in the erythrocytes of fish () collected in spring 2017 (May-June) and in two sampling rounds in spring 2018 (March-April and May-June) are presented.

Cellular micronucleus detection plays an important role in pathological toxicology detection and early cancer diagnosis. To address the challenges of tiny targets, high inter-class similarity, limited sample data and class imbalance in the field of cellular micronucleus image detection, this paper proposes a lightweight network called MobileViT-MN (Micronucleus), which integrates a multilayer perceptual attention mechanism. Considering that limited data and class imbalance may lead to overfitting of the model, we employ data augmentation to mitigate this problem.
