Autism spectrum disorder is a complex disorder that is becoming more prevalent. Because of this increased prevalence, primary care providers must become more knowledgeable about the disorder so they can provide appropriate screening, evaluation, and treatment as part of an interdisciplinary team and to serve patients and families within the medical home.

Background: Epidemiological studies infancy predictors of mental disorders are scarce.
Methods: The study is part of a longitudinal birth-cohort study, The Copenhagen Child Cohort CCC2000. Infant mental health and development and mother-infant relations were assessed by community health nurses from birth to age 10 months.
