Biphasic system not only presents a promising opportunity for complex catalytic processes, but also is a grand challenge in efficient tandem reactions. As an emerging solar-to-chemical conversion, the visible-light-driven and water-donating hydrogenation combines the sustainability of photocatalysis and economic-value of hydrogenation. However, the key and challenging point is to couple water-soluble photocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) with oil-soluble hydrogenation.

Volleyball referees, as athletes and staff members, are exposed to different stress levels which can be determined by measuring pre- and post-match levels of salivary cortisol (C) and alpha-amylase (AA). This study aimed to determine the dynamics of stress biomarkers in referees during official volleyball matches and the connection to the roles or level of competition. The participants in this study were nine international volleyball referees (three females and six males) with a mean chronological age of 48.

The conversion of methane and carbon dioxide to form C products is of great interest but presents a long-standing grand challenge due to the significant obstacle of activating the inert C-H and C═O bonds as well as forming the C-C bonds. Herein, the consecutive C-C coupling of CH and CO was realized by using heteronuclear metal cations CuTa, and the desorption of HC═C═O molecules was evidenced by state-of-the-art mass spectrometry. The CuTa reaction system is significantly different from the homonuclear metal systems of Cu and Ta.
