Purpose: In the last decade, the development of Deep Learning and its variants, based on the application of artificial neural networks, has reinvigorated Artificial Intelligence (AI). As a result, many new applications of AI in medicine, especially Radiology, have been introduced. This resurgence in AI, and its diverse clinical and nonclinical applications throughout healthcare, requires a thorough understanding to reap the potential benefits and avoid the potential pitfalls.

Background: For the initial staging of breast cancer (BC), 18FDG PET/CT is recommended by professional guidelines in stage III (except T3N1) and inflammatory BC (T4d) and optional when conventional imaging is equivocal or suspicious. However, growing evidence also supports its role in the staging of intermediate-risk groups (IIA, IIB, T3N1 of IA). This study aimed to compare the impact of 18FDG PET/CT with conventional imaging (CT-chest+abdomen+pelvis and bone scan; CT-CAP+BS) in staging, cost-effectiveness, and radiation exposure in the initial staging of BC.

Background: Indocyanine green fluorescence angiography (ICGFA) is gaining popularity for the assessment of reconstructive flap perfusion intraoperatively. This study analyses the literature with a focus on its clinical efficacy and cost-effectiveness across various plastic and reconstructive surgery procedures.
Methods: A systematic review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA guidelines on published studies in English comparing ICGFA with standard clinical assessment for flap perfusion.

Acute appendicitis is one of the most common infectious diseases in the abdomen, while superior mesenteric vein thrombosis is a rare and potentially fatal complication of acute appendicitis. This report describes a case of a 26-year-old male initially presenting with nonspecific symptoms including coughing, runny nose, vomiting, and diffuse stomach ache. Radiological evaluation with an emergency computed tomography (CT) scan revealed acute complicated appendicitis with abscess formation, perforation, and a large thrombosis in the superior mesenteric vein (SMV).

Infective endocarditis (IE) is a disease with high morbidity and mortality rate, but diagnosis is confounded by diverse clinical presentations, which mimic other pathologies. A history of illicit intravenous drug use, previous cardiac valve surgery, and indwelling intracardiac devices increases the risk for developing infective endocarditis. The modified Duke criteria serve as the standard diagnostic tool, though its accuracy is reduced in certain cases.
