Objectives: Probiotic approaches are being considered to eliminate pathogenic microorganisms and are an alternative and promising way to combat infections by using harmless bacteria to displace pathogenic microorganisms. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of commercially available freeze dried powdered probiotics on mutans streptococci count among 12-15 year-old Indian schoolchildren.
Materials And Methods: The study was conducted in two phases of in-vitro (phase I) and in-vivo (phase II) study, which was a double blind, randomized and placebo controlled clinical trial. A total of 33 schoolchildren between 12-15 years were included in the study. They were randomly allocated to three groups. Group A included 11 children using freeze dried Lactobacillus acidophilus, Bifidobacterium longum, Bifidobacterium bifidum and Bifidobacterium lactis. Group B included 11 children using freeze dried lactic acid bacillus only. Group C included 11 children using placebo powder. The study was conducted over a period of three weeks and examination and sampling of the subjects were done on days 0 (baseline), seven, 14 and 21.
Results: For both the intervention groups A and B, statistically significant reduction (P<0.05) in salivary mutans streptococci counts was recorded up to the second week.
Conclusion: Oral administration of probiotics showed a short-term effect on reduction of mutans streptococci count and showed a preventive role in caries development.

Previous studies have explored nanofat stimulating tissue regeneration and maturation, promoting remodeling through its rich content of growth factors and stem cells; however, comprehensive data on its use in full-thickness wounds remains limited. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of combining nanofat with freeze-dried human amniotic membrane (FDHAM) for treating full-thickness wounds in a rabbit model. An animal experimental study using a post-test control group design was conducted.

Placenta tissue has biological advantages, including anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fibrotic formation, and immunomodulatory properties. The amnion membrane (AM) is an inner side membrane of the placenta that faces the fetus. The main sources of amnion are humans and animals, with bovine being one of the significant sources.

This work leverages the additive antipathogenic effects of natural extracts/essential oils (EOs) and probiotics for the treatment of acne vulgaris associated with () and eczema complicated by secondary infections with (). Six probiotic strains and various extracts/EOs were evaluated in a large screening to evaluate their potential against both pathogens. PCB003 was able to inhibit the growth of both pathogens.

Listeria monocytogenes can contaminate refrigerated ready-to-eat foods, such as cheeses. Enterocins, with a strong listericidal effect, constitute a natural alternative to control this pathogen in food. To optimize their antimicrobial action in food matrices, bacteriocins can be immobilised in edible coatings through spray drying technology which allows the large-scale production of microcapsules of bioactive molecules.

The study aimed to evaluate the effect of ultrasound maceration of cold-pressed oils with freeze-dried mullein flowers (Verbascum thapsus L.) on their oxidative stability and chemical composition. After the maceration process, oils' were subjected to their oxidative stability (80-120 °C) and their chemical composition, Moreover, oils kinetics parameters were calculated.
