The great horned owl (Bubo virginianus) is a generalist predator that inhabits wide-ranging territories that are relatively stable throughout the year. These owls are also involved in a variety of human-owl conflicts, including killing of domestic poultry, predating colonially nesting seabirds and shorebirds, and pose a hazard to safe aircraft operations. Managing these conflict situations presents unique challenges as great horned owls are nocturnally active and occupy a wide range of habitats.

The increasing demand for hazelnut kernels is favoring an upsurge in hazelnut cultivation worldwide, but ongoing climate change threatens this crop, affecting yield decreases and subject to uncontrolled pathogen and parasite attacks. Technical advances in precision agriculture are expected to support farmers to more efficiently control the physio-pathological status of crops. Here, we report a straightforward approach to monitoring hazelnut trees in an open field, using aerial multispectral pictures taken by drones.

This paper presents a systematic review that explores the latest advancements in predictive maintenance methods and cybersecurity for solar panel systems, shedding light on the advantages and challenges of the most recent developments in predictive maintenance techniques for solar plants. Numerous important research studies, reviews, and empirical studies published between 2018 and 2023 are examined. These technologies help in detecting defects, degradation, and anomalies in solar panels by facilitating early intervention and reducing the probability of inverter failures.

Acoustic monitoring facilitates the detailed study of herbivore grazing by generating a timeline of sound bursts associated with jaw movements (JMs) that perform bite or chew actions. The unclassified stream of JM events was used here in an observational study to explore the notion of "grazing time". Working with shepherded goat herds in a wooded landscape, a horn-based acoustic sensor with a vibration-type microphone was deployed on a volunteer animal along each of 12 foraging routes.

Background: The relationship between gut microbiota composition, lifestyles, and colonic transit time (CTT) remains poorly understood. This study investigated associations among gut microbiota profiles, diet, lifestyles, and CTT in individuals with subjective constipation.
Methods: We conducted a secondary analysis of data from our randomized clinical trial, examining gut microbiota composition, CTT, and dietary intake in baseline and final assessments of 94 participants with subjective constipation.
