Statement Of Problem: The accuracy of noncalibrated splinting implant scanning techniques that include horizontal implant scan bodies (ISBs) positioned connecting the implants by following the shape of the dental arch have previously been analyzed. A novel horizontal ISB connected in the center of the arch has been introduced; however, the accuracy of this noncalibrated splinting implant scanning technique with a palatal orientation is unknown.
Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the accuracy of a nonsplinting and noncalibrated splinting implant scanning technique recorded using 5 intraoral scanners (IOSs).

This consensus statement is the product of a workshop at the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society Annual Scientific Meeting 2024 with representation of the United Kingdom Diving Medical Committee (UKDMC) present, and subsequent discussions included the entire UKDMC. A large right-to-left shunt across a persistent (patent) foramen ovale (PFO), an atrial septal defect (ASD) or a pulmonary shunt is a risk factor for some types of decompression sickness (DCS). It is agreed that routine screening for a right-to-left shunt is not currently justifiable, but certain high risk sub-groups can be identified.

Patients with abnormal relative position of the upper and lower jaws (the main part of the facial bones) require orthognathic surgery to improve the occlusal relationship and facial appearance. However, in addition to the retraction and protrusion of the maxillomandibular advancement, these patients may also develop asymmetry. This study aims to use a semi-supervised learning method to demonstrate the maxillary and mandible retraction, protrudation and asymmetry of patients before orthognathic surgery through automatic segmentation of 3D cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) images and landmark detection, so as to provide help for the preoperative planning of orthognathic surgery.
