Background: Surgical outcomes of first-stage palliation for hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) are vastly improved from prior eras and are well described, but rates and determinants of nonsurgical management are understudied, particularly on the national scale.
Methods: The Pediatric Health Information System database was used to identify all index neonatal HLHS admissions between 2015 and 2021 in the United States. Surgical palliation included cardiac surgery and transplantation during the index admission.

Background And Aims: Benign ovarian neoplasms are common in the pediatric population. In young adult women, oophorectomy has been shown to negatively impact long-term ovarian endocrine function. Recently, ovarian-sparing surgery (OSS) has been proposed as it offers similar results to oophorectomy in terms of recurrence rates.

Background Breast cancer represents a significant public health concern in India, accounting for 28% of all cancer diagnoses and imposing a substantial economic burden. This study introduces a novel approach to forecasting the number of breast cancer cases (based on prevalence rates) and estimating the associated economic impact in India using the autoregressive integrated moving average (ARIMA) model. Methods Data on the prevalence of breast cancer in India from 2000 to 2021 were obtained from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) database.

Infertility affects one-in-six couples, often necessitating in vitro fertilization treatment (IVF). IVF generates complex data, which can challenge the utilization of the full richness of data during decision-making, leading to reliance on simple 'rules-of-thumb'. Machine learning techniques are well-suited to analyzing complex data to provide data-driven recommendations to improve decision-making.

Background: Cancer is a leading cause of death globally, with significant variations in incidence and mortality rates among different cancer types and regions. In Taiwan, breast cancer (BC), cervical cancer (CxCa), colorectal cancer (CRC), and oral cancer (OC) are prevalent and have prompted government-led screening programs to mitigate their impact. This study aims to assess the burden of these cancers at the county scale using disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) as a metric, focusing on the years 2010, 2015, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
