A synergetic tert-butyl hydroperoxide/K3PO4-promoted oxidative cyclization has been developed for the facile synthesis of various functionalized quinazolin-4(3H)-ones from commercially available isatins and amidine hydrochlorides at room temperature. The synthetic utility of this strategy was illustrated by the convenient synthesis of tryptanthrin derivatives via a self-dimerization of isatins under the same conditions.

Context: The decline in ovarian reserve is a major concern in female reproductive health, often associated with oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction. Although ginsenoside Rg1 is known to modulate mitophagy, its effectiveness in mitigating ovarian reserve decline remains unclear.
Objective: To investigate the role of ginsenoside Rg1 in promoting mitophagy to preserve ovarian reserve.

Nucleic acid (NA)-based drugs are promising therapeutics agents. Beyond efficacy, addressing safety concerns-particularly those specific to this class of drugs-is crucial. Here, we propose an in vitro approach to screen for potential adverse off-target effects of NA-based drugs.

Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is a major cause of low back pain (LBP), and effective therapies are still lacking. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) stress induces NLRP3 inflammasome activation, and this, along with extracellular matrix metabolism (ECM) degradation in nucleus pulposus cells (NPCs), plays a crucial role in the progression of IDD. Daphnetin (DAP) is a biologically active phytochemical extracted from plants of the , which possesses various bioactivities, including antioxidant properties.

Purpose: To assess the impact of MitoQ, a mitochondria-targeted antioxidant, on viability of human corneal endothelial cell (hCEnC) lines expressing mutations associated with congenital hereditary endothelial dystrophy (CHED) and Fuchs endothelial corneal dystrophy type 4 (FECD4).
Methods: wildtype () and mutant () hCEnC lines were created to express either variant 2 (V2) or variant 3 (V3) by stable transduction of hCEnC-21T with lentiviruses containing either or one of the following mutations: V2 (V3) mutants c.374 G>A (c.

Hearing loss is a pervasive issue affecting numerous individuals, and its etiology and categorization are multifaceted. Among these, sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) emerges as the most prevalent variant among these. The primary causative factor underlying SNHL resides in the depletion of auditory hair cells within the cochlea, yet the pursuit of efficacious therapeutic interventions remains an ongoing challenge.
