Background: Skin is the target site to evaluate the pharmacokinetic parameters of topical applications. Sample preparation is one of the influential steps in the bioanalysis of drugs in the skin. Evaluation of dermatopharmacokinetics at preclinical stage is challenging due to lack of proper sample preparation method. There is a need for an efficient sample preparation procedure for quantification of drugs in the skin using LC-MS/MS.

Results: The skin samples treated with collagenase followed by homogenization using a bead beater represents a best-fit method resulting in uniform homogenate for reproducible results.

Conclusion: A new approach involving enzymatic treatment and mechanical homogenization techniques were evaluated for efficient sample preparation of skin samples in the bioanalysis.

This study emphasizes the critical importance of closely monitoring and controlling the sialic acid content in therapeutic glycoproteins, including EPO, interferon-γ, Orencia, Enbrel, and others, as the level of sialylation directly impacts their pharmacokinetics (PK), immunogenicity, potency, and overall clinical performance due to its influence on protein clearance via hepatic asialoglycoprotein receptors (ASGPR). The ASGPR recognizes and binds to glycoproteins exposed to terminal galactose or N-acetylgalactosamine residues, leading to receptor-mediated endocytosis. Recent studies have demonstrated that sialylation of O-linked glycan plays a role in protecting against macrophage galactose lectin (MGL)-mediated clearance.

Objectives: For designing a suitable hydrogel, two crosslinked Alginate/ Carboxymethyl cellulose (Alg/CMC) hydrogel, using calcium chloride (Ca) and glutaraldehyde (GA) as crosslinking agents were synthesized and compared.

Materials And Methods: All samples were characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Blood compatibility (BC), Blood clotting index (BCI), weight loss (WL), water absorption (WA), pH, and Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS). Cell viability and cell migration were investigated using the MTT assay and the wound scratch test, respectively.

Scandium (Sc) extraction from iron and aluminum waste is a promising technique for the recycling and valorization of laterite nickel ore waste. Iron and aluminum waste is one source of scandium during preparation of nickel and cobalt hydroxide by wet smelting of laterite nickel ore. The content of Sc is notably higher than that of the raw materials, as the element is enriched in the iron and aluminum waste.

An on-site, sensitive, and cost-effective method for determining aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) in rice samples is proposed, combining magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) and time-resolved fluorescence immunochromatography (TRFICA) techniques. Cost-effective rice husks were carbonized and combined with nanomaterials to make magnetic nanocomposites that acted as effective adsorbents in MSPE. Under optimal conditions, the entire process was completed in 15 min with a visual detection limit of 0.

The smoky scent is the most distinctive feature for Souchong black tea. To reduce the dependence on pinewood in the smoking process of Souchong black tea, it is crucial to find an effective alternative smoking material. Five black tea samples were prepared via using specially designed fuel rods as the smoking material in this study.
