Transverse-electric (TE) surface plasmons (SPs) are very unusual for plasmonics phenomenon. Graphene proposes a unique possibility to observe these plasmons. Due to transverse motion of carriers, TE SPs speed is usually close to bulk light one. In this work we discuss conditions of TE SPs propagation in cylindrical graphene-based waveguides. We found that the negativity of graphene conductivity's imaginary part is not a sufficient condition. The structure supports TE SPs when the core radius of waveguide is larger than the critical value Rcr. Critical radius depends on the light frequency and the difference of permittivities inside and outside the waveguide. Minimum value of Rcr is comparable with the wavelength of volume wave and corresponds to interband carriers transition in graphene. We predict that use of multilayer graphene will lead to decrease of critical radius. TE SPs speed may differ more significantly from bulk light one in case of epsilon-near-zero core and shell of the waveguide. Results may open the door for practical applications of TE SPs in optics, including telecommunications.

Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) is a treatment method that involves reopening narrowed arteries with a balloon catheter that delivers a cylindrical, mesh-shaped implant device to the site of the stenosis. Currently, by applying a coating to a bare metal stent (BMS) surface to improve biocompatibility, the main risks after PCI, such as restenosis and thrombosis, are reduced while maintaining the basic requirements for the mechanical behavior of the stent itself. In this work, for the first time, the development and optimization process of the spatial structure of the Co-Cr stent (L-605) with a graphene-based coating using cold-wall chemical vapor deposition (CW-CVD) to ensure uniform coverage of the implant was attempted.

The properties of water at interfaces have long been known to differ from those of bulk water in many distinctive ways. More recently, specific confinement effects different from mere interfacial effects have been discovered upon enclosing water in very narrow cylindrical pores and planar surfaces as offered by nanotubes and slit pores, respectively. Using experimental and theoretical THz spectroscopy, we elucidate nanoconfinement effects on the H-bond network of stratified water lamellae that are hosted within graphene-based two-dimensional pores.

A long-range surface plasmon polariton (SPP) waveguide, composed of double-layer graphene, can be pivotal in transferring and handling mid-infrared electromagnetic waves. However, one of the key challenges for this type of waveguide is how to excite the SPP modes through an incident light beam. In this study, our proposed design of a novel grating, consisting of a graphene-based cylindrical long-range SPP waveguide array, successfully addresses this issue using finite-difference time-domain simulations.

Herein, we propose a novel multilayer graphene-based hybrid plasmonic waveguide (MLGHPW) consisting of a cylindrical dielectric waveguide and hyperbolic metamaterials. The device is based on alternating graphene and dielectric layers on a rib substrate, operating in the terahertz range (f = 3 THz).

Wetting experiments show graphene to be weakly hydrophilic, but its contact angle (CA) also reflects the character of the supporting material. Measurements and molecular dynamics simulations on suspended and supported graphene often reveal a CA reduction due to the presence of the supporting substrate. A similar reduction is consistently observed when graphene is from both sides.
