Radiomic Consensus Clustering in Glioblastoma and Association with Gene Expression Profiles.

Cancers (Basel)

December 2024

Department of Neurosurgery, Mount Sinai Health System, New York, NY 10029, USA.

Background/objectives: Glioblastoma (GBM) is the most common malignant primary central nervous system tumor with extremely poor prognosis and survival outcomes. Non-invasive methods like radiomic feature extraction, which assess sub-visual imaging features, provide a potentially powerful tool for distinguishing molecular profiles across groups of patients with GBM. Using consensus clustering of MRI-based radiomic features, this study aims to investigate differential gene expression profiles based on radiomic clusters.

Reproductive success is dependent on gamete integrity, and oxidative stress alters male nuclei, meaning that no DNA repair is possible due to chromatin compaction. The composition of sperm makes it highly sensitive to reactive oxygen species (ROS) but, at the same time, ROS are needed for sperm physiology. Over the past 30 years, much attention has been paid to the consequences of oxidative stress on sperm properties and the protective effects of antioxidant formulations to help fertility.

The study investigated the degradation of 3-methoxy-1-propanol (3M1P) by OH using the M06-2X/6-311++G(d, p) level, with CCSD(T) single-point corrections. We focused on hydrogen atom abstraction from various alkyl groups within the molecule. The rate coefficient for 3M1P degradation was calculated from the sum of the rate coefficients corresponding to the removal of H-atoms from primary (-CH), secondary (-CH-), tertiary (-CH< ), and alcohol (-ΟH) groups.

Article Synopsis
  • Current clinical testing for imprinting disorders is complicated and usually involves several tests to get a clear diagnosis.
  • We explored the use of whole-genome long-read sequencing (LRS) as a single test to analyze different genetic variations and methylation patterns in individuals with Prader-Willi or Angelman syndrome.
  • Our results showed that LRS can accurately diagnose these conditions efficiently and could simplify testing while lowering costs and speeding up results in clinical settings.
