The failure of amalgam retrofilling and presence of an associated cystic lesion makes surgical endodontic intervention inevitable. Amalgam retrofilling can also give rise to mucoperiosteal tattoo formation and allow incorporation of amalgam particles in the cystic lining. Such a finding has not yet been reported in the endodontic literature. This case report describes the successful endodontic management of a large radicular cyst associated with failed amalgam retrofilling, mucoperiosteal tattoo and amalgam particles dispersed in the epithelial cystic lining. All four mandibular incisors associated with the lesion presented with Weine Type II canal anatomy. The follow-up revealed clinical and radiographic signs of healing.

Mercury (Hg) is a global pollutant of concern, and its transport and transformation are controlled by various environmental factors, with aquatic particles being an important driver. Understanding the interactions between silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and Hg under dark condition is a prerequisite for studying the extent of AgNPs interaction with light and its participation in Hg biogeochemical cycling. Herein, under laboratory experimental setting, it was found that the reduction of divalent Hg (Hg(II)) to gaseous elemental Hg (Hg) by AgNPs readily occurred.

Recent literature has exhibited a growing interest in the utilization of ground glass powder (GP) as a supplementary cementitious material (SCM). Yet, the application of SCMs in stabilizing heavy metallic and metalloid elements remains underexplored. This research zeroes in on zinc stabilization using a binder amalgam of GP and ordinary Portland cement (OPC).

The purpose of this study was to determine the most effective method for bonding composite resin to artificially aged amalgam. A spherical amalgam alloy was triturated and condensed by hand into cylindrical plastic molds (6 mm in diameter and 4 mm in height) to create 90 specimens, which were then aged for 2 weeks in closed plastic containers at 23°C. The amalgam surfaces underwent 1 of 3 surface treatments (n = 30 per treatment): (1) air particle abrasion (APA) with 50-μm aluminum oxide particles applied with a force of 45 psi from a 10-mm distance, followed by rinsing with deionized water for 60 seconds; (2) APA following the same protocol with subsequent application of a metal primer (Alloy Primer); or (3) coating with 30-μm silica (CoJet) at a force of 45 psi from a 10-mm distance until the surface turned black.

Dental amalgams have been used by dentists for the restoration of posterior human teeth. However, there have been concerns about the release of mercury from amalgams into the oral cavity. The objective of the present research is to study the effect of titanium (Ti) nanoparticles on the microstructural mechanism of the release of mercury vapor in two commonly used brands of dental amalgam (the Dispersalloy: 11.

Transferring nanocrystals (NCs) from the laboratory environment toward practical applications has raised new challenges. HgTe appears as the most spectrally tunable infrared colloidal platform. Its low-temperature synthesis reduces the growth energy cost yet also favors sintering.
