This case involves a 52-year-old male, who underwent a deceased donor orthotopic liver transplant 7 months prior, presented with a 2-week history of persistent fever, anemia, thrombocytopenia, and mild elevation of liver enzymes. Upon hospital admission, the patient was febbrile, alert and oriented, hemodynamically stable. Laboratory exams revealed worsening leukopenia, anemia, thrombocytopenia, hyponatremia, and elevated ferritin.

Pertussis remains a significant public health concern despite effective vaccines due to diagnostic challenges and symptom overlap with other respiratory infections. This study assesses the prevalence of using advanced polymerase chain reaction (PCR) testing and examines the clinical outcomes over a one-month follow-up. We conducted a cross-sectional study at the University Hospital of Larissa, Greece, from April to June 2024, collecting 532 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with respiratory symptoms.

Background And Objective: Iliopsoas abscess (IPA) is a rare condition with varied symptomology and etiology. Less than one-third of patients with IPA present in the emergency department (ED) with the traditional triad of fever, back pain, and restricted hip motion (or limp), leading to delays in diagnosis and management. Acute liver failure is also a rare clinical presentation in the ED, being associated with high morbidity and mortality.

Fascioliasis is a zoonotic disease that may affect humans as incidental hosts after the ingestion of contaminated water or aquatic plants. Despite the non-specificity of its signs and symptoms, a triad of abdominal pain, fever, and peripheral eosinophilia should increase suspicion. The diagnosis of fascioliasis can be particularly difficult in non-endemic countries.
