To investigate the current status of life stress and hypertension among couples of childbearing age across diverse economic regions in China, and to explore relevant influencing factors. This study was a cross-sectional study, with subjects from the "Research on the standardized system of comprehensive prevention and control of birth defects based on preconception-prenatal-postnatal whole chain". From February to May 2021, urban and rural couples of childbearing age (18-49 years old) from Beijing, Henan, and Gansu provinces were enrolled, representing the eastern, central, and western regions of China, respectively.

Background: Hypertension and muscle strength are known to be associated; however, identifying simple clinical indicators of this relationship is challenging. Relative muscle strength (RMS), defined as strength per unit muscle mass, has been proposed as a potential indicator, but its association with hypertension is unclear. This study aimed to estimate the prevalence of hypertension and determine its association with RMS in an adult Indian population attending a tertiary care center in Gujarat.

Setting, Participants: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 10-24 years living in regional, remote, and urban communities in Central Australia, Western Australia, and New South Wales; recruitment: March 2018 - March 2020.
Introduction: Milan hypertensive strain (MHS) of rat represents as one of the ideal rat models to study the genetic form of hypertension associated with aberrant renal salt reabsorption. In contrast to Milan normotensive strain (MNS), MHS rats possess missense mutations in three adducin genes and develop hypertension at 3 months old due to upregulation of sodium-chloride cotransporter (NCC). At pre-hypertensive stage (23-25 days old), MHS rats show enhanced protein abundance of Na+-K+-2Cl- cotransporter (NKCC2) but retain blood pressure comparable to MNS probably through enhanced GFR and reduced NCC and α-subunit of epithelial sodium channel (α-ENaC) expressed in distal convoluted tubule (DCT) and collecting duct (CD).

Introduction: There are limited data on the prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors/diseases (diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and dyslipidemia) and their composite scores reflecting overall cardiovascular health among young (< 50 years old) married couples.
Methods: We have an established longitudinal prospective cohort of postpartum women with a history of hyperglycemia [pre-existing diabetes (PED; n = 101), overt diabetes in pregnancy (ODiP; n = 92), gestational diabetes (GDM; n = 643)], and normoglycemia (n = 183) in pregnancy and their spouses (n = 819). In this study, we report data from baseline cross-sectional evaluation of these 819 young couples regarding the burden of cardiovascular risk factors/diseases, their concordance and associations.
