The objective of this study is to develop suitable formulations to improve the dissolution rate of poorly water soluble drugs. We selected lipid-based formulation as a drug carrier and modified the surface using positively charged chitosan derivative (HTCC) to increase its water solubility and bioavailability. Chitosan and HTCC-coated lipid particles had higher zeta-potential values than uncoated one over the whole pH ranges and improved encapsulation efficiency. In vitro drug release showed that all NLC formulations showed higher in vitro release efficiency than drug particle at pH 7.4. Furthermore, NLC formulation prepared with chitosan or HTCC represented good sustained release property. The results indicate that chitosan and HTCC can be excellent formulating excipients of lipid-based delivery carrier for improving poorly water soluble drug delivery.

The "catalytic triad" present at the active site of ribonuclease A (RNase A) is responsible for the cleavage of the 5'-phosphodiester bond; amino acid residues His12, Lys41 and His119 constituting this triad provide a positively charged environment at the physiological pH. Based on docking studies, 1,4,5-trisubstituted-carboxylated 1,2,3-triazoles (1,4,5-TTs) were identified as a new class of RNase A inhibitors. Therefore, two different groups of 1,4,5-TTs, functionalized with carboxylic acid groups, were synthesized by reacting pre functionalized butyne-1,4-diol derivatives with several aryl/alkyl azides under solvent and catalyst free conditions.

Synthetic hydroxyapatite (HA) materials with antibacterial and biocompatible properties have potential for biomedical applications. The application of various computational methods is highly relevant for the optimal development of modern materials. In this work, we used molecular docking to determine the binding constants of tetracycline (TET) and quercetin (QUE) with hydroxyapatite and compared them to experimental data of the adsorption of tetracycline (TET) and quercetin (QUE) on the HA surface.

The present work focuses on one of the possible target mechanisms of action of the anionic antimicrobial peptide β-lg derived from trypsin hydrolysis of β-lactoglobulin. After confirmation of bactericidal activity against a pathogenic Gram(+) strain and demonstration of the innocuousness on a eukaryotic cell line, we investigated the interaction of β-lg with monolayers and bilayers of dpPC and dpPC:dpPG as model membranes of eukaryotic and bacterial membranes, respectively. In monolayers, compared to zwitterionic dpPC, in the negatively charged dpPC-dpPG, β-lg injected into the subphase penetrated up to higher surface pressures and showed greater extents of penetration with increasing concentration in the subphase.

This study presents the development and characterization of manganese ferrite (MnFeO)-based nanocomposites with graphite oxide (GO) and chitosan (CS) for efficient dye removal from textile wastewater and aqueous solution. Comprehensive characterization was performed using FT-IR, Raman, XRD, BET, SEM, DRS and Zeta potential techniques. XRD analysis confirmed the cubic spinel structure of MnFeO, with characteristic peaks at 2θ = 32, 35, 48, 53, 62, and 64°.

The growing demand for minimally processed foods has heightened the risk of pathogenic contamination. Balancing antimicrobial efficacy with the preservation of probiotic activity remains a significant challenge. In this study, we employed phage display peptide library screening, combined with next-generation sequencing to identify the HIMPIQA domain, which selectively targets pathogenic Escherichia coli (E.
