Exploring the potential benefits of growth hormone co-treatment on embryo quality in IVF: a randomized controlled open-label trial.

Reprod Biol Endocrinol

March 2025

NHC Key Laboratory of Human Stem Cell and Reproductive Engineering, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, China.

Research Question: While growth hormone (GH) is hypothesized to potentially enhance embryo quality, results of current basic and clinical researches remain inconclusive. This study assesses the effect of GH supplementation on embryo quality and explores the relationship between baseline insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) levels and the efficacy of GH supplementation among Chinese patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Design: A randomized controlled Open-label trial was performed with 128 women experiencing poor embryonic development in IVF.

Background: The impact of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) complicated with preeclampsia (PE) on perinatal outcomes in twin pregnancies, particularly across different GDM subtypes, remains unclear.

Methods: This case-control study included 1,263 twin pregnancies with GDM and categorized participants as follows: (i) GDM without PE and GDM with PE groups, and (ii) GDM subgroups based on oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT) values at different time points, including GDM-IFH, GDM-IPH, and GDM-CH. Initially, the study investigated risk factors for PE occurrence in women with GDM.

Electrocardiographic imaging (ECGI) aims to noninvasively estimate heart surface potentials starting from body surface potentials. This is classically based on geometric information on the torso and the heart from imaging, which complicates clinical application. In this study, we aim to develop a deep learning framework to estimate heart surface potentials solely from body surface potentials, enabling wider clinical use.

Purpose: To evaluate live birth rates per embryo transfer where the primary indication for assisted reproduction was preimplantation genetic testing for monogenic conditions.

Methods: All oocytes were fertilized using intracytoplasmic sperm injection. On days 5-7, ~ 5 trophectoderm cells were biopsied.

Study Question: Is there evidence of a plateau in the cumulative live birth rate (cLBR) after a certain number of consecutive transfers of untested embryos?

Summary Answer: In our cohort of 11 463 women, the cLBR continues to increase with each additional transfer of an untested embryo, reaching 68.3% after six blastocyst transfers and 78.0% after 10 blastocyst transfers.
